3:28 The Victorians were walking chemicals since everything about them had some sort of bad chemical compound in them. It was a weird fashion for some reason
@juliusfrauenglass24117 ай бұрын
Fashion has a tendency to be what the majority of the population isn't, when people were skinny because of the harshness and toil of life tended to keep them thin well fed was fashionable. Pale was in because most were tanned due to hours spent working in the sun.

I've worked at places that allow smoke breaks I'm glad they offer extra days off to people who don't smoke because of it. The average smoker would take six or seven 10-minute smoke breaks while non-smokers had to work.

Other sleeping arrangements for the destitute in Victorian times were the "penny sit up" where you could sit on a bench in a warm room, but you were not allowed to lay down, and the "two penny hangover," which consisted of a bench and a rope, People would sit side by side on the benches and literally hang their arms and head over the rope stretched from one side of the room to the other.
@bamacopeland43727 ай бұрын
And if i'm not mistaken for the latter too you were not allowed to fall asleep. It was only there for them to rest.

Fact: My grandfather was a shoe salesman (a very long time ago), and he DID use x-rays in the store! In fact, he sometimes would bring his young daughter (my mom) in with him, and while there, she was allowed to play with the x-ray machine!

Regarding the email hacking, in the 90s we got a PC that had a password protected BIOS. I wasn't allowed to use it without one of my older sibs or parents inputting the password so it could finish starting up. 1. They were dumb and left a scrap of paper with the password in the desk. 2. It didn't even need the password! When the box would pop up, if I just hit Enter without any input, it would be accepted as the password.

Mike, here's a bizarre fact that you apparently don't know: teeth are NOT bones. They are similar to bones - they're both hard, white, & store calcium - but teeth are made of different materials. And here's another fact about teeth: unlike bones, which can grow and heal themselves, teeth cannot. Once a tooth gets damaged, it's damaged forever. This is why it is so important to take good care of your teeth.

The fish in the bathtub is a story handed down amongst a lot of Jewish immigrants. Not just for Xmas. They even wrote a children's book about it! I have an aquarium, but I think this story is more like home aquaculture which a lot of people are into now. The good news is the water back then in EU was probably very clean. Try this now in USA and your Carp fish will be dead in 1 hour.

Another fun fact about your brain not actively noticing your nose from Unconscious Selective Attention, is that when VR became popular again in the 2010s, people using it were constantly suffering from motion sickness, headaches, and other issues. And that is because the goggles didn't allow the user to see their nose, so the brain was trying to compensate for the loss, and it was causes the symptoms reported. So VR companies and game devs had to simulate a nose ridge in the goggles so people would stop suffering from the missing nose. And it worked.

Pub quiz trivia time. 😁❤️ Professional tennis players use ice baths for muscle recovery. Ancient Roman ketchup was a fermented fish sauce, not unlike modern Asian fish sauces, called Garum. If you want to know more about weird 19th century cosmetics, many old newspaper adverts, etc, can be found online. That stuff is so weird. 😮 My nose is actually small, snub and gets frequently blocked, because it's small. 😁 The late Prince Phillip had to sleep in a wooden crate, for a cot as a baby, when the Greek royal family, which he was from were disposed. Maybe if we know about Cleopatra's perfume, we might know, why she was believed to be so attractive to men? 🤔
