Great video, as always. The power on the Theobens is adjusted by removing a screw on the rear of the cylinder. ( Exactly the same as you would with a Weihrauch HW90, fitted with the Theoben gas ram system). This gives you access to a small schrader valve. With the correct adapter, you can increase the air pressure in the gas ram with a stirrup pump. Such as one you would use for a pcp air rifle. The gun shop where I work in the UK, is pretty close to the old Theoben factory, & their employees often came in for pellets etc. One told me you could even recharge the gas ram with a bicycle pump, though it’s not something I’ve tried. I use the proper Slim Jim pump myself. Though you should never use a dive bottle, or an electric pcp pump, they deliver far too much pressure for a gas ram. Thanks again for a great video.

maybe a hp bicycle pump thats used for race bike tires could work 10 bar tires , because the low pressure ram is somewhere between 20 to 30 bar filled , a hatsan carnivore 135 gas ram goes up to 160 bar , there you need a pcp hand pump ,because you control the pressure better than filling from a botlle .

Kevin, the Theoben rifles are excellent the late. John Darling used one plus his HW80 , and they are very accurate and at range even in .25 cal all that is needed is a scope with a verticle reticle with lots of mil-dots to help out the trajectory of .25 , also a lighter pellet will help , nice video Cheers I am in Wales 🇬🇧 UK.

Strange I posted a comment last night disappeared , so here goes. 1/Depending on year Eliminators have differing piston seals 2/Theoben piston seals very difficult to find , many owners reduced to making them or having them made. 3/Gas rams burn out piston seals faster than steel spring guns 4/Your Eliminator may well be over pumped as is, dropping the pressure will bring up the power. 5/Remove dust cap screw in rear of cylinder. this reveals aircraft grade Schrader valve 6/a standard car tyre pressure bleeding tool will undo valve and bleed air. 7/cylinder can be refilled from a standard high pressure pump bicycle fork or PCP or divers air cylinder. 8/you will need an adapter 9/ optimal pressure for ram varies depending on type early piston types require a low pressure around 750 psi if memory serves later HE types are higher pressured, ram pressure also caliber related. 10/ worth checking condition of barrel pivot bolt these can suffer if worn replace.

Thanks for the video, having owned an eliminator in .20 and .22, rule of thumb is to run them on 2/3 throttle and adjust the pressure with the most accurate pellet. Once you charge up to full pressure on the ram they can become harsh to shoot. You also risk the possibility of burning the piston head out. There are two adaptors for the pump which suite different models of Theobens. If you can acquire a dampa mount that will help the scope stay together. Early units used a bolted on theoben specific dampa . Some later model of theobens had a 11mm grooved action and could use the sportsmatch dampa .Both were made by sportsmatch. Back in the day being local to the factory my wallet was emptied as different models came out.🙂

Excellent information, my friend! Thanks so much. I'm wondering what mount is on my example it's a solid mount, but it's too low based upon the height of the comb of the stock. I'd love to find something as nice only in a "high" configuration. That would make the rifle much more comfortable to shoot. Thanks again for a very informative comment.
@stillair1 Жыл бұрын
Hi, having looked at the rifle on full screen size that looks like the proprietary Theoben dampa mount fitted.(check by applying pressure to the rear of the mount and it should move a smidge as the rubber bushes in the mount compress. Theoben did offer half moon ring inserts and longer top screws at one time. I recall Theoben changed the piston head configuration at one time from poly to o ring to stop poly piston heads being burnt out.@@razor1962

Kevin, I shot one of these that was at full power, at a airgun gathering in Penna. years ago. Was hitting a galvanized garbage can lid at 100 yards. I think with some tweaking, it can be brought up to full power and a better scope setup. Remember, the Webley Patroit was advertised at 775fps, so this should do around 815fps. My 2003 Beeman catalog has it rated at that. The trade off for me is the insane engineering that went into this rifle, the stock and the bluing. ScottinPa.

So great to see a big bore Kevin 🥰 I was actually thinking 620+fps @ 25+FPE seems to be about right for a .25 (my .30 carnivore only does around 530+FPS @ 30-34FPE) ...but as your gong can testify too(Damn that hit hard!😂), its not "speed" that makes the big bores the best long range hard hitters! - its the Kinetic mass!! (And they retain energy soooo much better than the small bore's, so they slow down much less over distance, which equals more accuracy and more whack!!) Biggest tip I can share from my big bore experiance is the type of hold used...I honestly just can't get any type of decent groups if I use a standard artillery hold, instead I have to use a firm-ish grip and pull the rifle back into the shoulder, then my shot groups improve dramatically! ...But arent they just a wonderful "work out!" (Very wise of you to switch arms mate...keep that rotator away from that beast till your all fixed up💪) Thanks for sharing another great rifle and video with us Kevin Kia kaha ❤

Im in the UK. Theoben are no longer making rifles,to my knowledge, back in the day i always lusted after one! I liked the little Fenman. Never liked the fixed scope rings. They did later do one called The Evolution with dove tail. A little cheaper but still more than Air Arms and Weighrauch. Weighrauch made a rifle called the HW90 which had the theoben gas strut but an odd trigger not as good as the Rekord though IMO. I retrofitted a theoben gas ram kit into my BSA Supersport.22 very snappy lock time and smooth cocking.

@@razor1962 The cocking effort would be higher as well , you don't want to strain your good arm Kevin too....Rare guns over here too think most went to the usa ,.Only seen the odd one in gunshops racks (usually at inflated price too.) Nice high comb stock on it though, seems more ergononic than the HW90 stock. . If you do have to work on it be carefull when tapping the schrader valve to depressurise it too hard will break the seals, as I found out when working on a pals old battered one, but it was probably due a new valve by then. the piston seal & internals were servicable though after many thousands of shots, they need a tablespoon ful of motor oil in the ram too . Shame your not neaarer i have a spare adapter to repressuris it, you can do it carefully with few pumps of a stirrup pump though.. got it to do that HW90 but fits most later theoben valves too.
