It was clear to me that all the machines were rigged so not many if anyone won from the popular machines

I go to Jenkinson's boardwalk every year (well except this year. sad) and yeah the machines are def rigged. IMO best method is to play once or 3 play for 2 credits. Just see if it's ready to pay out. I got a pusheen which is probably like $30 from there. You can win occasionally. If you really want it try two plays, but that's it.

They probably don't make it weaker because they want you to get that thrill of picking it up. But I'm sure they double the payout cost to make up for the half price.

They don’t, I live by this boardwalk/arcade, they would have to manually set every claw to be weaker which would take forever, and at this arcade it’s half off everyday from 3pm-5pm so it’d be too much work. You can win, I’ve won a ton from this place, it just depends

Claw machines like this should be illegal in the US. the game should not be able grab the prize then release like that. Packing prizes tightly, and making the strength just strong enough for the individual prize would be fine. But I think how these machines operate mKe the game more like gambling than a game of skill.
