I am a robot. I use mastic on all ducts. I do heating and air then talk like a robot on KZbin.

Mastic on the inside of flex is taking it too fn far
@lasvegascream17995 жыл бұрын
Lol huh..well that is how you get the duct to stick to the can...
@zack99120003 жыл бұрын
it makes it 100%sealed vs tape that will come off after a few years
@johnathon90563 жыл бұрын
No tape on collars? I usually tape the collar down, put some 181 on the collar base and neck, slip the core over, and then more 181 on the outside, before pulling the rolled insulation and outer layer over and tieing it in, more tape, more mastic, and down here in FL we usually spring for the pre-insulated boots.

They used mastic. Better than tape...
@becksandro15452 жыл бұрын
Why would you mastic the interliner of the flex ductwork. I’ve done multiple houses with no leaks. If you mastic the tab collar correctly there is no need to tape your collar either. It will pass a test everytime with no problems. Huge waste of time.

lol, where is all this code at? I've never seen nobody follow all these rules! Get everyone to follow these and homes will be much better! quality control seems to be at an all-time low. They seem to be more focused on production.

There are places where 100% flex is allowed? I could teach my 10 year old to run duct work.
@hangngoaigiare5 жыл бұрын
ya in a warmer region, up the flex to the next higher size or whatever size compare to rigid duct to have same air flow capacity
@zack99120003 жыл бұрын
Hard pipe will always be better. Lazy companies use it, now there are places for it but are rarely designed right

Yeah where I am you can use it but we only use hard pipe

In my home in California I just found out that they never ran duct work from the unit to the return air vent in my house,they just used the walls as the return air side. So this will help me do it myself
@VaporheadATC6 жыл бұрын
Pretty common. One of my returns is like that, but I don't plan on doing anything about. My house was built in the 80's so it would be an undertaking in making this house more efficient.

alvstar t gotta love the majority of new construction putting their shit in the attic. I’m at a company that does purely residential retrofit. Here’s a one in a million for you though. I had a retrofit on a new construction for an A/C add-on, and the property had a massive grade in the middle. The house didn’t have a ladder for the crawl access which was located inside, so we had to use an 8’ ladder. The furnace was in a closet. My dream came true and abruptly ended once that job was done.
