My poor mans fix was to buy 15" rubber bungie cords and run them across the bush guard leaving about 1" between them. These are strong enough to stop any tree branches from going through the grill guard and damaging the tractor when using the grapple. My grill is still intact and the $20.00 fix works just fine! Takes me a whole 3 minutes to remove them when I put the grapple away for the winter. If it wasn't for your video I wouldn't have even thought of protecting my new expensive purchased B-2601......Many Thanks.

Hi Ed! You did a fantastic job on the brush guard! The moment you took that guard off and I saw it spring in a bit, I thought “I hope Ed noticed that and used a block of wood to hold it open.” And sure enough, you did. Yes, I use that same Hobart nozzle gel. Thanks for sharing!
@utubota55223 жыл бұрын
I started with the same damage you did. I used expanded metal, placed it on the front instead of the back of the guard. I bolted the material on instead of welding. I put the metal on the front so limbs did not get caught between the screen and the frame, and tended to slide past the guard. I bolted the screen as I figured it would eventually get damaged, and bolting would make replacement easier. You did a great job, and very nice looking

By putting the mesh on the back side of the stock Kubota guard, the protruding guard steel sections can trap a branch end. Great great video. Cannot believe it has on 63K views, but art is art. But HEY E. Man, always wear a mask when spraying primer or paint, even when you hold your breath and are upwind, it still will clog your brain. I personally didn't always wear a mask, on my channel, like during my Camaro rebuild video that's coming out, it will cause brain clarity... And one more thing E, wait for the primer to dry before adding the final top color coat. Sometimes you could get a chemical reaction from the primer when its not completely dries (read the label) Un dried paint will release gases and will bubble underneath the top coat, (if you don't allow it to dry at least 30 minutes) but I see that both the primer and the orange color, are the same manufacturer, so that helps too. @ShaneZettelmier3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used a nozzle gel, it looks easier I use a spray. One thing that might help you is when you do this kind of stuff instead of doing all your welding after you clamp it down, you spot welds on the end and in the valleys where you have to press it down and get everything straight first when you keep Welding at one end you’re shrinking and expanding and warping that metal so by the time you get down to the other end it’s a slightly different length and when you will that into place it can end up talking what you’re doing a little. If you’re doing a table top or something it’s not that important but something like this where you have to line bolt holes later to get it bolted back on that little tiny bit of torque can make a big difference and make it a lot harder to get those but holes lined up again. I also would’ve welded it off to those center straps just to give it that much more strength if you hit something thick, I might’ve even put a little square or round bar on those just to toughen them up a little they’re pretty thin metal going across the middle there and they tend to flex and bend a lot. Just beefing them up with a little piece of round bar or square bar on the back would really make that a lot tougher if you were to hit a big limb or something and it would add that much more strength to keep the whole thing square and help keep those welds from snapping if you hit something hard. It’s not at all necessary but it would just make it that much stronger. For some thing that was mostly cosmetic it wouldn’t be worth it but if it’s a guard that you’re actually going to use a lot it might be worth a little extra effort. It looks awesome and everything looks nice and straight. I agree with you on good paint as well. Lol

My BX2380 has a dorky flip flop brush guard that is always in the way when I open the hood. Seems the biggest function it has is to hit my front grill when I open the hood and piss me off. I am going to mod that darn thing all right... with a socket set, it is coming off. If I ever have a situation where things are actually going to hit my front hood [probably never] I'll put it back on. Oh yeah, did I mention it blocks my headlights too?... grrr Edit, I am going to look at re-mounting the thing... ON the front grill so when I open the hood it does not HIT the front grill, it opens and tilts down "with" the hood/front grill. I can also mod it so it no longer blocks my headlights.

What's the brightest head lamp bulb you recommend to replace the factory bulbs that came with the Kabota 2601 tractor? Thank you. Btw, your videos are very helpful.
@MyClutteredGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. If you have a front end loader, a brighter headlight won’t help much because the FEL blocks it. You can replace them with LED’s but the best solution is to add some ROPS mounted lights. Thanks for watching! -Ed

Why not put the metal sheet on the outside of the grill guard?

But then you could see my ugly welds :) Seriously though, that would work too. It was just an aesthetic choice. Thanks for watching! -Ed

Do you know if the brush guard is the same size on the Kubota L3901?
@MyClutteredGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry. I’m sorry but I don’t know the dimensions of the grill guard on the L3901.

thats a really nice mod on the grill. I like that metal you used with round holes. how well did the paint match? looks like rustoleum paint?
@MyClutteredGarage4 жыл бұрын
daveknowshow - thanks very much, Dave. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The paint is Rustoleum implement paint in Kubota Orange. So it matches really well. Bought at my local Tractor Supply. Thanks for watching. I enjoy your videos too. -Ed

Great video. Love the "perforated metal" vs. "expanded metal". Look. What brand and color paint matches the Kubota? This brush guard is next on my B2601. Thanks for the inspiration.

Bob & Kim McDonald - thanks very much. I’m sorry I didn’t mention specifics about the paint in the video. It’s Rustoleum Farm & Implement paint in Kubota orange. I bought it from my local Tractor Supply. Good luck with the project! Thanks much. -Ed

Did it cut down your air flow too much? I looked at your link and it stated 48% air reduction. Thanks
@MyClutteredGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chuck. Great question. Because of the distance from the tractor grill, I’d say there’s zero reduction in air flow. If you were to place this perforated steel in a piece of ductwork, for instance, the 48% reduction would apply. Thanks for watching, and for your well thought question. -Ed

I've watched a few of your videos but this one is the one that pushed me over the top to subscribe! My dealer is holding my new LX2610 HSDC for me until my wooded 2000' driveway firms up from the frost. I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on it and the new grapple I'm getting. Now I'm thinking I can get my fix by swinging by the dealer and grabbing the brush guard to fabricate this upgrade before i even get my tractor! I might just do that. Thanks for the video and instructions... would you mind posting the link to the metal once more? I snooped around below but was not successful in finding it (?). Thanks again!!

Thanks so much! The link can be found in the video description, but give this a shot bit.ly/3qPxWQq. I ordered a 24x24 piece. I'm sure you're going to love the LX! Please drop by again and let me know how it's going. Much appreciated. -Ed

Excellent ! A job well done. I am more concerned with eliminating the side to side shake in mine. Does the insert block the lights much ?, I think I might make cut outs for the lights on mine.
@MyClutteredGarage3 жыл бұрын
I would guess it probably blocks the lights 50%. But the front end loader blocks them 100% so it didn't matter to me. Thanks for watching! -Ed

Does the added screen affect your head lights at night?
@MyClutteredGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would add extra lighting. If you have a front end loader, the factory headlight position is useless anyway.
@craignicholson84803 жыл бұрын
Yep. Punched a hole in my L3901 Grill first time out with the Grapple (which I love by the way). I didn't see your source of supply for the perforated metal - you said on line shopping?

Never mind, I looked further in your description and found your link. Thanks for you great videos - I'm a new time tractor owner and can use all the help I can find!
