Reminds me of ‘88 USA Olympian Dave berghoff. He won gold in Seoul using his own unique swimming style called the berghoff blast off. Once off the platform, he would stay underwater til he got to where the flags are in the pool. He’d only take a few strokes before touching the wall heading bk and winning the race. It was soon outlawed but what a sight to see. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Back then you only need to do like 1 stroke minimum to compete And dolphins kick being the fastest technique because its performed under water thus doesn't create wave drag

I don’t mean to sound flippant, but I’ve often wondered about the point of short course swim meets, as in like why not just make all swim competitions long course? And this video sort of makes my point. These guys are so good they could glide 25m. In a short course event, they jump in, or kick off a wall, and they’re 60% of the way already.. they need to swim literally only a few strokes to complete the 25.
@coachwinner67362 жыл бұрын
My guess is that it’s probably to include the 100 IM and have a much easier time to have access to 25m pools versus finding 50m pools. Plus, the short course offers a “more exciting” visual 😂

30 seconds to cover 25m. That's what you get for having only initial push. I remember robot games doing these sports back in early 2000s. One of the events is 25m swim. The robots' finishing time ranges from 8 seconds to something around 5 _minutes_ and I remember one winning the race with 22 sec time.
