About Season 6 of The Chi: This season, life in THE CHI reverberates between the highest highs and lowest lows. The show is a reflection of real world circumstance. Jemma wasn’t innately attracted to Jake; she actually wasn’t a fan of his distasteful behavior and attitude towards her and those around him. However, like most young women, she grew into craving the “bad boy”. Jake is socially abrasive, unrefined, and blunt. Women sometimes associate these traits with strength, protection, and masculinity. Even though those traits are present in the exact opposite type of men. Jake doesn’t respect or honor Jemma; he views her as a current girlfriend, or potential baby mother he’ll eventually discard. Kevin on the other hand, was timid, had a strong sense of social awareness, and was empathetic to those around him. Young women associate these traits with being weak, uncertain, and unreliable. Even though Kevin continued to support Jake after numerous betrayals of trust, while also continuing to grow as a person. Jake openly mocks and disrespects Jemma, but she craves that excitement because it’s “different”.
