Please correct me if i'm wrong. I think in Romanian you have three ways to say You,when addressing a friend,you say (Tu) when addressing more than one person, you say (Voi) and when addressing someone older, you say dumneavoastra? Am i right
@blackburn31255 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right. Dumneavoastră is the polite way of addressing someone. It's also used for he (dumnealui), she (dumneaei) and them (dumnealor)

I met this dude in jail named Florin. He was Romanian and spoke good English. There were a couple of Mexicans in the dorm with us and I was the only bilingual person that could translate. I had court ij another county and got housed out. When I came back this guy was able to have full conversations in Spanish whereas he could not when I left. Apparently Romanians understand Italian by default ( does not work in reverse) and therefore Spanish is not that big of a jump.

Romanian and English do not translate well among one another. Immediately I noticed the use of 'profesor' and in English, teacher would be a better translation (otherwise people assume that you're attending university/post secondary education). The formal and informal use of the language also creates a horrific problem, expect to be yelled at several times if you visit Romania and speak at a beginner or intermediate level

cheque, not check. imi pare rau
@aussiehighways11304 жыл бұрын
'Check' is the American spelling of 'cheque' (British). Both a bank cheque and check list would be spelt as 'check' in American English. In any case, in Britain, you would ask for 'the bill' when you've finished dining at a restaurant.

If you're learning Romanian, it shouldn't be too hard to learn a few words in American English as well.
