I read the fairy tale of Imolya and the pike in a 1987 Misha magazine for children. I had the first number in French. Then my dad made an annual subscription to Misha on my behalf. Unfortunately, there were no more numbers in French and he agreed to give my subscription to Misha in Italian. The magic formula the pike taught Imolya went in French like: "par la volonté du sire brochet et par mon bon vouloir..."' The same formula sounded like "per la volontà del luccio et per il mio desiderio" in Italian... That's how we learnt foreign languages in communist Romania by means of a Soviet children's magazine and by Russian folklore... Then, readers were asked to brainstorm an ending to the fairy tale for the next number. I sent my version to Moscow. I still have the answer typed in Russian from the editing committee. I didn't get published, anyway... Then, the first time my mum read the tale of "Конек горбунок" to me I was about 4 years old. It was a nice winter morning, there was a fire burning in my grandparents' dining room fireplace. Mum would light Chinese incense sticks stuck into small tangerines, brought all the way from her trip to Beijing. The book with the fairytale was published by Malysh Publishing House in Moscow and it had such wonderful drawings! The translation was in exceptional Romanian verses. Even now I remember the passage of the Tsar's death when he jumped into the boiling cauldron...

Such gorgeous dolls Lillian 😍 Amazing workmanship. I love the fairy tales. The European fairy tales were always scary. I have not read Alexander Pushkin for many years. I did have an english translation of Pushkin's work many years, now I must find it again. I know of the Russian stoves, many rural villages in Russia still use them. Lilian, What an amazing video 🤩😍. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.❤️😍💝. As a young kid like many decades ago, I remember my uncle had this, I didn't know the name and background, amazing 🤩. My uncle's set was red and yellow not sure if it had holt and the biggest one maybe was like the middle one in your collection.I remember the tiny one was so tiny but still so perfect 🤩. Unfortunately I don't remember too much about the stories. I thought the expression on each dolls face was different too, not sure. Is there any specific count that should be there like even number or odd number of dolls? The poet long time ago gave the key to a man's heart 😄, it's not his stomach 😄. Russian culture is so rich and amazing it survived through many regime changes 😍💝. I was thinking these dolls are probably not safe with a dog around 😂. Cats are so deft and if they drop something it's most likely intentional 😂. Have a great Sunday Lilian and love to Don Pepas 😻💝.
