One thing the 3D models excel at (especially the PLA and SV models) is allowing the Pokemon to be more expressive and charismatic. At least in my opinion. One of my favorite 3D models is Sandslash. I like how he curls into a ball and spindashes after you to keep up when walking.

Totally agree! Even though most sprites in comparison can be better in battle, 3D lets the Pokemon be more expressive in other fields!

So, 3D models may not always be better than 2D ones, but they were a NEEDED change. Imagine modes like Pokemon Amie with 2D sprites. They'd be limited to their battle sprites just bouncing around in the same frames of every time. Meanwhile in 3D, they're more expressive and actually react to how you interact with them.

Hitmontop's 3D model is doing a capoeira motion named "Jinga" - the "idle" move one performs between actions As someone who's practiced capoeira for 5 years I think that's simply perfect

I so agree with these better models especially golem and Lucario. Even some green shinies look better in 3D. 3D isn't the issue as shown by the extra care that stadium and coloseum showed. Its the lack of care

Finally someone who appreciates the extra touches 3D models brought to Pokemon. I am so tired of everyone hating on them, and saying they are "lifeless & expressionless." Claiming Sprites were always better. Despite the fact they were limited in a variety of ways and most people projected their imagination onto, instead of what we actially got. We need more videos like these.

I'm still in the camp that like sprites more, but I still can see reasons as to why people could think models are better, even some that are better than the former (like I mention in the video)

I'm fine with people preferring one over another but I really hate how people dislike 3D just by virtue of it not being 2D (or practical effects in the case of live action) In Pokémon in particular it bothers me that they blame the 3D being bad on it being 3D instead of Game Freak being incompetent (though it seems they improved a bit based on this video)

A Pokemon I thought I wouldn't really enjoy too much but I really enjoy him now is PSYDUCK. The way he waddles, runs, and puts his hands on his head is hilarious. In PLA I really saw the protentional of making Pokemon more expressive because Psyduck is hilarious, and I can't forget the one clip of Psyduck falling off a bridge in SV. If you haven't seen it, you got to see that SV clip!

*Finally!!* Someone poked their have above the trench of delusion and spoke the truth!! This really makes me double down on the opinion that Sprites are better than models. If these are the best examples of 3d Pokémon, count me out. Torkoal’s gen 3 sprite is so good while his 3d model has no personality and a 2d smoke cloud that looks terrible.

That is just a blatant lie. In Gen 3 they have literally the exact same pose. The only Torkoal sprite than has anything lively going one is in platinum.
