Let me tell you why his average away from Australia was 41 while in Australia it was 57,that is a big difference. He averaged 34 in England, 34 in South Africa and 28 in New Zealand that is quite poor even though he had to face the new ball. Yes he was explosive when opening but his record does not warrant him being the best ever. Take Sunny over him any day, Sunny Gavaskar would be a strong candidate for the opening slot in the all time greatest test eleven. Hayden was a great opener but the greatest opener ever not in my humble opinion.

But I am talking about the real gormkof cricket which is test cricket. By the way I will take Adam Gilchrist over Hayden in white ball cricket as the more explosive opener!! Mr Hayden in his carear in ODI had a strke rate of 78 while in test cricket his strike was 60.
