12:10 It's a mechanic that is used mainly in trees, every time the wood is moved into the leaves the game says "hey, this is a tree" and when you remove it, it says "hey, this is no longer a tree" and that gets registered by observers. As far as I can tell it's only used to tell leaves that are no longer part of a tree to start to decay, the weird part is the game can sometimes tell when the player has placed leaves and won't be removed until done manually. It's cool to see it when the random tick speed is set to 100 cause then you can then watch all the leaves begin to disappear as soon as you break the last log connected to it.

The redstone pulse (the geeky thing) is way easier to create @Mumbo Jumbo ! If you put the piston underneath the block powered by the repeater, the repeater will then power the piston beneath. The piston beneath will then instanly raise the block and cut the signal going through the block. This results to a pulse being formed and somehow the repeater still powers the piston so there will be no second pulse formed until you send in another signal. This is very useful.

The moment I saw the daylight sensor wireless redstone I incorporated it into my water elevator. No more "click-click-click-click" as the signal cascades down a series of Observers, blocks and Droppers. Just the click of a button and the sound of one piston. It's so much faster and was easily concealed in my build. I love it!

So which version of Bedrock did you play before it was called Bedrock :P Also good choice switching to Java, while it may be limited by platform the features like the F3 menu, seeing chunk borders, and ability to set up local servers makes it so worth it

Mumbo, would you consider making a series of videos that are sort of a redstone masterclass. Starting out with the very basic components of redstone. Then working its way up to showing circuits and then progresses to the uses of those circuits. Perhaps then even more advanced stuff. Not only would this help new players understand the mechanics it would allow aspiring redstone engineers to learn and progress their redstone techniques along the way. there is not really any series like this on KZbin that i have found, I think that not only would it get tons of views it would help loads of people. Love your channel BTW.

Are you able to do more bedrock edition redstone tutorials. I liked the video when you tried doing redstone in pocket edition, ages ago. It was fun to see what you found out and how much thought you had to put into the circuits.

You can send Redstone signals through the leaves because of the tree decay mechanic. Leaves that are within a 5x5 area of a log that is connected to it by other leaves will not decay, but if that log is removed, the decay cycle is started. This causes different updates in the code which the observer detects :) hope this was helpful

12:00 I actually know why this works, logs prevent leaves from decaying, so a log being pushed into those leaves updates them to a "no decay" state, and the observer detects it

Here’s why I think the “vegan redstone” because when a leaf block is on it own it doesn’t decay but when a log is on it like a tree the leaf block updates to decay when the log is broken (not taken away) and why it’s only five blocks it because Minecraft tree go up to about five blocks out from a log

The NBT data of the leaf block includes connected to wood as "decayable." Thus, adding/removing a log changes this value between true and false. NBT changes are block updates, thus the observer detects it.

I’m currently working on a mansion/castle build in my world and decided it needed some redstone for the door. Worked on it literally for about an hour and it boggled my mind HEAVILY, but i managed to figure it out. I was in a really compact area (5x11, but the interior where the redstone needed to be was 3x5 and the door had to be a 2x3 door) and what i figured i could do to power the top pistons was by powering another sticky piston with a redstone block on it, powering the rest of the redtone up top thus powering the three pistons for the top half of the door. Not to mention, i managed to make it seemless too. Not hidden, but seemless. I’ve always been a builder but ever since i found you, Mumbo, I’ve been really interested in making redstone. Thank you for being an inspiration, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to troubleshoot it and would have stuck with the ugly 2x2 piston door i had instide that 2x3 area. Yuk. Also...about 9:53...that comment about not pushing redstone blocks vertically....that was exactly what i did. Should that be a glitch or something?
