Very nice Bass sound! Is the Avalon U5 a big part from your tone? I go direct in to the RME UCX 2 but Im not very happy with my sound and think about buying a decent Bass preamp. Do you think its a big difference between the Hi-Z RME input and the U5? Thanks!
@ALIONBASS2 жыл бұрын
I only use the U5 bass track for reamping (in this case through Bass POD XT Pro). So, no direct U5 sound here. The bass frequencies on the U5 are really great, for me it's perfect to start with. Don't know how it compares to the RME. Succes!

amazing playing! can anyone help me understand how to identify a Rub a Dub song? is it the bass ? the drums? thank you!
@Diego86a Жыл бұрын
It’s hard to tell, there’s no pattern but a good way to get it is on it’s seeing. Rub a Dub comes from a dance style where the man and woman rubs up very close together and grind their hips to the beat. If you feel like whining up your waste while listen to a reggae song, high chances of it to be RubAdub

Thanks! I recorded this one through a bass pod, don't remember the settings. But in general: boost the bass, cut the treble and adjust the mids, depending on the sound of your bass.

It's mad how everyone is using 5 string basses now. I don't have a problem with this, but surely it's not necessary. Could someone explain?
@ALIONBASS2 ай бұрын
Simple, extended range and more possibilities; some basslines of modern reggae tunes go below E. Also, when you play a bassline higher up the neck and you want to add a low F for example, you don't have to jump 5 frets down to the headstock. In this case I could have used a 4-string, but I love the sound of this bass.
@maasaigeordie2 ай бұрын
@@ALIONBASS @ALIONBASS I get you brother. However I'm not gonna buy a 5 string in a hurry though. The problem I have with the 5th string is because it's making the neck wider just for a string that I might only use once in a while. (a bit like a tremolo on a guitar). If I ever play a 5 string bass I know that the extra string would annoy the fck out of me. When I made the cross-over from guitar to bass, I owned a jazz bass and I don't think I would've taking to playing the bass as much as I did had it not been for the thin neck on it.
@ALIONBASS2 ай бұрын
@@maasaigeordie Yes I understand. I had the same issue when I played my first 5-string, it was a big difference and I even stopped playing it for a years because it felt so weird. But over time I adapted my playing style and now I feel more comfortable on a 5 than on a 4.
