You had the pyramex on backwards.. the pyramex is way better for the price. Hard hats get tossed around and destroyed so paying $150+ for one is crazy. Only reason to buy one at all is so it has a better look then the one your contractor is required to provide you.

I just bought a Lift Dax Fifty 50, it’s badass compared to my standard MSA hardhat. The Lift sits lower on my head than the MSA. Those plastic tabs are great for clipping conduit levels on and not cracking the carbon fiber.
@chardy1143 жыл бұрын
I ordered the ridge line instead of the Dax because I’ve heard several complaints about the Dax cracking after small impacts.

@busener43264 жыл бұрын
I feel like I have to say it again. Its on backwards. I am just throwing this out there in the last year 3 guys I work with have put theirs on backwards 1 with a Ridgeline 2 basics msa s. And that's not counting the contractors I've been around. Please don't be the backwards hardhat guy I know you're not. Lol

I’ve got the Ridgeline and it is a good lightweight hard hat. It is a significant improvement to my cheap msa.
@bobathefett97293 жыл бұрын
I had a lift, probably the most uncomfortable harness I’ve ever worn, pulls at your hair, the carbon fiber heats up a ridiculous amount and makes your head hot as shit plus it was the heaviest hard hat I’ve ever had. Ended up giving it away.

Tell me how its in summer time. I work in a hot state we wear white but i would think this would just be a heat attracted at summer like black cars. But wanted to ask guys who wear and use this one.
@bradcorey15 жыл бұрын
I reckon the cheaper Ridgeline looks better. But, no matter, I'd never spend $130 for a hardhat. I got mine from uline, ten bucks, navy color, works good. Cool video sir! Thank you.
@NomadicINK5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think most people would be happy with the cheaper one plus you can always up grade your suspension kit for most hard hats if you needed to.

For anyone wondering if u want a hat that sits low. Go buy the msa skullguard for $80-$100 and buy the large size fas trac headgear for it. Most people including me with my giant head will get the brim of the hat to sit right at or below the top of your ears
@gardnerwebb37493 жыл бұрын
I've had the fiberglass/brown lyft hat and the downsides its heavier which is noticeable. The padding seems nice at first but when it gets hot it gets stinky. I am changing to a fibre-metal by Honeywell.
@craigmonteforte14784 жыл бұрын
Thanks Buddy I’m retired now but i made my living doing Commercial Woodworking for over 25 years The Lift certainly warrants the money IMO I’m not sure but those metal fasteners look like rivets holding the suspension together on older hats they were sewn together i imagine that system allows them to be fastened faster in production without compromising integrity if i was still working i would spend the money on a lighter lid ! Can’t do much with your money Dead or Injured

Just a hint,. Take 20 seconds filming where you are planning to just move the camera around and see how it turns out. If it looks good go ahead and send it. Here you have all kinds of bright light, flashes glare and overexposure. You could have covered the windo with a white sheet and your shots would have been much more appealing to watch. P.s thanks for the review, I am looking for a more comfortable hat.

This was filmed in a travel trailer at some parking lot in the middle of now where. Not much access to lighting of materials I believe I used a portable flood light in this video 😄 But for the next time I'll keep that in mind

The one that looks two tone isn’t actually half carbon fiber, it’s full carbon fiber with extra layers in the front, that’s what I have, the under side shows all carbon. Either way lift is badass

We're you able to ge the head band to sink in more on the dax bucket?
@NomadicINK5 жыл бұрын
No that's as deep as it sits. Slightly buggy at 1st but it's comfortable now. But I do feel as if it will come off your head easy. You can ratchet it down more when working on leading edges or high work. I've been looking for a replacement 6 point suspension that will sit lower still

The Dax looks more comfortable to wear. If I had to wear a hard hat all day every day I would want something that’s comfortable and easily adjustable. But, that is a big price difference. Good video James.

James when doin stand-ups at the seam should u screw soft side or hard side of stud first to keep seams flush?
@NomadicINK5 жыл бұрын
I can't ever remember but I think it's the soft side first.
@thomasdbarnez5 жыл бұрын
Soft side first bro, pulls the stud nice and square to the board, then when you start your next board it’s give a more solid fix to start with, that’s how we do it in Great Britain, we stand up everything here!
@craigfinno5515 жыл бұрын
Thanks
@leesenger30945 жыл бұрын
For sure soft side first. Think of the stud as an arrow pointing the direction to hang. If you do the hard side first, the seam will often be wonky.

@MrYAZZ-hl7pw5 жыл бұрын
Hey man. I think maybe you can adjust the insert deeper into the hard hat so you cannot see the head band too much. I think that is adjustable too. I have the old school fab-metal round plastic one. It fits very deep and snug. Not too high or cheap flimsy plastic insert. It's pretty solid. You should check them out, too. The full brim fibr-metal.
@lectrician72 жыл бұрын
It's fibre-metal not fab metal or fibr-metal.

Good content, ridgeline is backwards. I just ordered a ridgeline. In the matte black so thanks for the review. If I am not mistaken, hard hats should be replaced like every 2 years so spending $130 on a hard hat doesn't seem feasible to me. However the Lift looks nice!

nobody truly replaces their helmets every time they “expire” unless its company orders and they provide a new one every term.

Lots of guys wearing the MSA skull guard hard hat a simple google search and you'll be paying over $100 bucks for one and to be honest that DAX LIFT suspension system and forehead liner are probably the best I've seen , so your paying a premium for comfort .
@FT4Freedom5 жыл бұрын
@@paulmacdonnell6203 oh yes. I like it. I just don't want the problem of being the special guy at the job site. Guy's I work with are poor and underpaid. They wear affordable plastic hats and Walmart boots. I don't really want to be the fancy pants on site. I'm a minority white dude and I need to blend in and keep my head low. Just got mine, high vis yellow and black. So much more comfortable than a regular hard hat. If the job makes you wear a hard hat all day on site, it might as well be as comfortable as possible. The plastic on the cheap ones dig into your head, fuck them!
@TheKi11erj3 жыл бұрын
way to much emphasis on looks. all hard hats look stupid. its a protection device. only 2 points to cover here, how comfortable it is and is it certified for use on the job site. get some sickers and make it look cool .

How does the dax compare to the skullgard?
@NomadicINK5 жыл бұрын
The fax is actually carbon fiber and has a 6 point suspension insert with padded faux leather sweat band. The skullgard is a plastic like material and a 4 point insert with vinyl lined head band . It's about a 50 to 60 dollar difference. Really goes on personal preference. Hope this helps.
