That is one gorgeous Benchmade! I really like the re-curve in the blade. This was a fantastic walk down knife lock history. I like the idea of the axis lock but I just cant quite use them as easily as most others do. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Spyderco Mid-lock with the boye dent as the best knife lock ever.

When I first saw an access lock, it reminded me of a Gerber Bolt Action Lock with closing buttons on both sides. The Gerber knife came out in 1984 I think four years after the innovational LST series of knives Gerber introduced in 1980. Then the Access Lock came along in 1988. Currently the most in revolutionary design in folding knife lock designs I would like to mention is the Compression Lock from Spyderco in 2,000. If I had difficulty closing or opening a knife this design is one to try.👍

In my opinion, it's not just about the lock design. it's about how it is implemented and at times, how it works with the rest of the knife. Some framelocks are superb, others awful. Same for all other lock types. For me, the most consistently well executed is the framelock or a chunky linerlock (sub frame lock). Great video, good to see you back at the mat.

I kind of agree with most of you run down. Its a design I really like but would always be comparing to the 940 which as you know I adore.which by the way is one of a few knives I would replace immediately if I lost it.but sadly it would be bought on the second hand market as benchmade are pricing me out.👍☘️

I have only played briefly with someone else's Benchmade and found the axis lock somewhat stiff. That was my first and only experience with Benchmades. I've had mixed results with other company's Axis lock knockoffs. Ganzo's was way too stiff. Camillus was very loose but also very eay to work.
