great interview.. mr Peat was there when a 50mm rear shock w/ no adjustments but the sag was considered gold :} because speed sells so well, today's tracks are build w/ different things in mind... it's amazing how the riders managed to maintain cordial and even close relationships with each-other. not many disciplines have that.

I remember around 6 or 7 years ago in the village at Trestle Bike Park, Steve Peat was talking with a big circle of guys and I tell my female friend Melinda "Hey that's Steve Peat!" She goes over, walks right through the circle of guys interrupting them and says "Hi Steve, I'm Melinda, can I get a photo with you?" Steve was like "Ahhhhh, okay, sure, why not?" It was so funny, and probably didn't hurt that she was gorgeous, how could he say no? Then I got to talk to him a bit about racing, and his choice of tires, which were Maxxis High Rollers at the time. Anyway, he was a great sport and it's a great memory!!

This first track layout in Maribor was superb. The sections have been like levels in a computer game. The start was a bit higher then today and had a kind of motocross section, berm to berm into a blind drop with a skijump landing. This accelerated so quick. Some more good ideas made this track mint.

Maybe the race in Germany was in Breitenbrunn. Now there is a trail center. It's awesome 👍

part of this mans Legend is nothing to do with his riding, Peaty always makes you feel like a pal when you meet him, you`d swear he remembered that time 10 years ago when you asked for autograph etc

The 1994 German WC was in Hindelang. Oh so cold. Rain, a lot. Some snow at the top on Quali day. We camping guys at the sport ground had water all over in the tents because it was flooded by 4 inches. Many riders learned a lesson how Panaracer Spike could be the key to hold the fast lines at the off camber sections. I did not own this tyre or some other like the Hutchinson. With no dry clothes we left Hindelang after the Qualification. So I can not help with the Results...

Kudos for having balls so big to say its time for change, and to get rid of Fort Bill. World Cup should be the pinnacle of downhill with the most difficult terrain to race ever...

I don't get this whole new-age track hate. Last year's WC: Lourdes, Andorra, Fort Bill, Val Di Sole, Mt St Anne - five beasty tracks that surely test every rider
@WIPEYOURLENZ7 жыл бұрын
Matt Rickard He means it’s not very very technical. You can just carry speed and roll most if you have the balls.
