25 Years with Andy Kerr

Former MSP for Andy Kerr talks us through the work he contributed to the smoking ban in public places. He reflects on his own experiences smoking as a young student, and the impact being raised in an environment where smoking is the norm can have on people.
Difficulties he came up against with introducing the ban included resistance from the hospitality industry. By engaging with stakeholders and providing financial support for enforcement and public awareness campaigns, the majority of people did support the ban. He also shares his concerns about youth vaping, and advocates for stricter controls to curb young people’s addiction.
