This channel is amazing for the comments section alone. No weird outrage, no shaming the creator for what songs he hasn’t heard, just supportively helping him understand the references and context for the track and kindly recommending other music that might be of interest. SO REFRESHING. Imagine if the whole Internet was like this. A+++ vibe, keep up the great work and THANK YOU for reminding there are still amazing people out there.

Quick notes…the Patty Duke was a dance based on the dance done by the actual woman Patty Duke on her TV show from back in the day (similar to how the Dougie was based on Doug E. Fresh’s dance style). Also…if you didn’t pick up on it already, the reason why this one wasn’t in the same lyrical class as some of the other Beastie jawns is because they were pretty much freestyling.

Q tip was the only featured mc, maybe even only feature ever on a Beastie Boys album... EVER. They always wanted to do something with him. Beastie Boys had their own studio in Glendale CA. That's a whole nother story! Anywho Tip was at the studio one day, and they connected on they're love for Eugene McDaniels. They made Get it Together right then.

yes he patty duke is a dance you've seen it a million times and probably never realized it had a name lol.. almost all choreographed hip hop routines feature it. It comes from a 70's show called the aptty duke show which is kinda crazy in and of itself.
