At 2:17 in the intergalactic video, Mike D says "got an A from Moe Dee for sticking to themes." Kool Moe Dee used to put out report cards to rank the other rappers. He'd give them grades in different categories like lyrics, beats, flow, etc. He always gave the Beastie Boys D's and F's, but one time he gave them an A for "Sticking to Themes." lol. This is so funny cause Mike D is bragging about the one time Moe Dee gave them props, but he's also pointing out that beastie boys were a real part of the old school New York hip-hop scene.

One of the fun things about this (and all) Beastie video’s is how low-budget they look and feel. They were at the top of their game during Intergalactic and could have spent a fortune. Instead, they were creative and inventive. They walked into a Tokyo subway station and surprised a bunch of confused on-lookers. Love the Bboys and always will. Falling in love with ImBoogie as a reactor. ❤ Keep it up my man! Car Thief B-boy Bouillabaisse (The track within b-boy b “stop that train” is a time-capsule of 1980’s NYC and being a young man in that place and time. It’s beautiful.)

56 year old white guy here. I was there when this was new, and you had the same reaction we all did back then. You definitely understood this assignment. And its a strong tell on why us Gen X and older, tend to whine a lot about "modern music". I used to think it was because we just got too old, just like when our grandparents thought Elvis shaking his hips would destroy humanity and our parents thought Ozzy and Kiss were Satan himself. But honestly? It was actually the rise of digital manipulation and auto tune and such that really caused us to feel that way. The was peak music production, but not fake music production. So glad you did this one and I did in fact love the shiz out of your reaction.
