Hey. Been there. I know if someone came along while I was in the middle of my funk, I would have rolled my eyes at what I’m about to say but….its going to get better at some point. Can’t promise it won’t go bad again but what you’re feeling is not the end of the feels. Hang in there. It sucks… but hopefully you get an out….

The uniforms are a play on old 1960's Godzilla movies from Japan and how the street workers used to dress in them. You have become one of my favorite reactors. I love how much fun you have with the music and it reminds me of the old days when I was young. I was literally 25 when this song came out...lol.

This won the 1999 Grammy for best rap video. The album ‘Hello Nasty’ won best Rap Album. This was filmed in a Japanese train station. The uniforms are Japanese disaster emergency workers. You saw a lot of them at Fukushima with the nuclear problem and the tsunami. That would’ve gotten a lot of attention.

At 2:17 in the intergalactic video, Mike D says "got an A from Moe Dee for sticking to themes." Kool Moe Dee used to put out report cards to rank the other rappers. He'd give them grades in different categories like lyrics, beats, flow, etc. He always gave the Beastie Boys D's and F's, but one time he gave them an A for "Sticking to Themes." lol. This is so funny cause Mike D is bragging about the one time Moe Dee gave them props, but he's also pointing out that beastie boys were a real part of the old school New York hip-hop scene.

One of the fun things about this (and all) Beastie video’s is how low-budget they look and feel. They were at the top of their game during Intergalactic and could have spent a fortune. Instead, they were creative and inventive. They walked into a Tokyo subway station and surprised a bunch of confused on-lookers. Love the Bboys and always will. Falling in love with ImBoogie as a reactor. ❤ Keep it up my man! Car Thief B-boy Bouillabaisse (The track within b-boy b “stop that train” is a time-capsule of 1980’s NYC and being a young man in that place and time. It’s beautiful.)

56 year old white guy here. I was there when this was new, and you had the same reaction we all did back then. You definitely understood this assignment. And its a strong tell on why us Gen X and older, tend to whine a lot about "modern music". I used to think it was because we just got too old, just like when our grandparents thought Elvis shaking his hips would destroy humanity and our parents thought Ozzy and Kiss were Satan himself. But honestly? It was actually the rise of digital manipulation and auto tune and such that really caused us to feel that way. The was peak music production, but not fake music production. So glad you did this one and I did in fact love the shiz out of your reaction.

Fun fact: this CD dropped a few days before I left on a multi country road trip to Europe, I played this all the way up in the two cars I rented- Amsterdam (where I eat the pennekokken), NOBODY had this CD there, it was the mid 90s, MP3s weren't a thing yet, and it released in NYC where I lived at the time (born there), and people lost their MINDS when I played it. My face looked exactly like your does in this video when I heard this album drop.

The indoor scenes are in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station, the busiest train station in the world. The skyscraper is Tokyo Toucho (City Hall) in West Shinjuku, a ten minute walk from the station. The KAIJU battle was filmed at Toho Studios, in Western Tokyo, the place that created the original GOJIRA (Godzilla) movies. The bought the construction workers uniforms, helmets, and reflective vests at a work wear store.

I remember the first time I heard this album. There were 5 of us stuffed into the cab of a Ford Ranger and we dropped that CD into the slot and all 5 of us just absolutely flipped our lids. Surprised the suspension held up to the fury of that absolute jam. I still get that original chill just a little bit every time.

For this music video, various scenes are filmed in the Shibuya and Shinjuku train stations in Tokyo, Japan; the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 makes a brief appearance. Throughout the video, the band wear bright uniforms of (Koji) Japanese street construction workers. (per Wikipedia)

Dust Brothers production (pre Fight Club soundtrack, so if you like either, you can hear similar samples and musical segments in there) Great reaction man!

It was fun time to be watching MTV in late98/early99. We had this banger from the Beasties in the summer 98 and then Eminem came out in early 99.
