PRT are more five percenters like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Brand Nubian and others teaching Supreme Lessons of the Gods and Earths through hip hop. The hood in the late 80’s to early 90’s was on consciousness wearing African medallions, clothing patterns and reading mentally elevating books. Shortly after this is when you can see the shift to record companies started to heavily sign and promote more street aka gangster rap and music like PRT became more underground. We’ve been there since then.

Alotta brothers in the north east back in the days were a part of the 5 percent nation. So you’ll hear alot of references to mathematics, science and Islam etc..a lot of the “slang” in Hip Hop comes from 5 percent lessons, like “word is bond” , saying “peace” or “peace out”.. the word “cypher”, “build” etc.. guys like Rakim, Kane, these guys PRT, Brand Nubian, the whole Wu Tang clan and many others were 5 percent. This is the righteousness in rap that was eliminated after the late 80s early 90s .. everything went Gangsta after that. Wu tang were the main ones still dropping knowledge of self throughout the rest of the 90s.
