Yea not much to find on the internet, ive read the refrences of india and sri lanka whilst searching for its origin before. Also it was wide exported to damascus as raw material, hence the name.

Damascus was/is manufactured in India and the material was exported more so to Syria where it was used to manufacture the Damascus swords. Unfortunately the art of manufacturing Damascus steel is almost lost although there are some small scale foundries which do manufacture the same steel even today in India but they are manufactured in small quantities.
