I spotted the dial indicator on your cross slide so I assume that is the cheapie lathe rebuild project. My 80 year old lathe has a very worn cross slide and I’m planning on truing it up on my mill. Any nuggets you might have to share on the topic will be thankfully received :)

The problem I'm aiming to fix there is that the whole saddle isn't level, so the bevel angle doesn't match the bed. First step is to measure how out-of-level it is, work out a way to fix, then do the fine adjustment so the saddle is a perfect fit for the bed profile.

The diamond grinding wheel looks interesting. I picked up one, like to see you go with it. Cheers
@AdventureswithaVerySmallLathe4 жыл бұрын
I have two diamond wheels now, thankfully with the same centre diameter, so they fit on the same arbor. It'll be a couple of videos before I upload something about that, but I'm already making great use of the wheels on brazed carbide lathe tools and mill boring bars.

Have just purchased the proxxon lathe because of your channel kkk. What should i buy for it?
@AdventureswithaVerySmallLathe4 жыл бұрын
The first thing I recommend to any new owner is to buy a quick change tool post. The Proxxon one is fine, but the Machifit OXA style post I reviewed recently is probably better, and quite a bit cheaper, so definitely worth a try. The downside of the Machifit is that you'd need to make yourself a custom stud to fit it to the lathe, which might be a tricky project for a beginner.

Adventures with a Very Small Lathe thanks for the tip. It is already on my wish List. Followed by the proxxon hard metal bits (with removable points). In relation to the mill I have bought a MF 70 but I found it to weak and it does not take 6mm tools, so I am changing for a decent chinese mini mil. The only con is that it weights 60kg!!!

Every commenter (so far) are such gracious losers! OK, let's go with the flow...congratulations to the winner! So here I am looking at my "Carbon Fibre Composite" digital calipers and realise that my 6th. grade ruler is probably as accurate and doesn't require battery replacement every couple of months. Sob story over, what an absolutely fabulous channel - thanks Adventures with a Very Small Lathe!
