I would say S30v is now a budget steel in the current line up of steels. It was always suffering from overly large carbines that tore out when you try for anything more than a working edge. D2 is to chippy so I would agree that 14c28n and AUS10 are the best budget steels.

How do you sharpen recurve blades? I have a cold steel fixed Karambit that came razor sharp. To go folding, I purchased a honey badger claw, but it came dull. I used the kme jewel stick to get the claw sharper, but it's no where near as sharp as the Karambit or my straight blades.

If you decide to produce an ideal folder, what kind of EDC knives design would it be? My ideal is a thin stock flat grind drop point with a tall blade vanax blade steel around 3 inches with a titanium bouster liner lock with carbon fiber scale and also with multiple opening options.

@@SliceyDicey Right on, I appreciate the reply! I was really close to ordering a Hinderer XM18 3.5" the other day, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on such an expensive knife! I've lived in Ohio my whole life too, and just recently learned that Hinderer is based here. I've had my eye on the Spyderco Drunken for a while, and I could use Sezzle for that so it wouldn't be so much money all at once, but I also ordered some paracord the other day so I will probably just make some lanyards and try to get better at maintaining the knives I already own instead of buying another one, at least for a while. Sorry for rambling; I really like your videos!

I use Ballistol on my knives and almost everything metal and leather I need protecting. First question have you used Ballistol 2nd I am wondering if there is a reason I should switch to EDCI? Ballistol is food safe as well and has worked for me for years.
