Guess that makes me an exception, I have severe depression and large amounts of social anxiety. These ideas presented in this video make me smile for the fact it makes me think "Maybe this is possible." Thoughts like those are rare for me and it gives me hope rather than makes me feel worse. Makes you imagine what you could accomplish in these last few years you can hold onto your childhood before being thrown out into a complicated world. I'm going into high school this year and couldn't want anything more in life than to do at least one of these things to maybe so a little self worth in my empty and broken heart. The ideas presented in this video aren't painful rather than hopeful or something to aspire towards.I have lost all hope multiple times in these past few years, this helped for so many reasons. Damn that was too deep....I'm sorry if this was unneeded and not care for but it's something to mention to at least one person.

Anyone else kinda dislike this video? For me, it paints an idealistic image of high school that for most people isn't really attainable. Like high school isn't going to go the way you expect it too, and having all these high expectations will really let you down when you're actually going through it. I have a friend who is obsessed with having "the ideal teenager experience" and is trying to get us to do stupid stuff and she's constantly disappointed when we tell her that we have lots of homework, parents, or simply that we don't feel like doing things that might endanger us.

i guess for a lot of people high school isn’t really what most coming-of-age films depict it to be but it isn’t bad to yearn for something similar (as long as you’re aware of your limitations and you’re not going overboard). i’m aware of my responsibilities as a teenager but at the same time i try to emulate the experiences they have (in said films) into my life, not because i would feel validated of my youth but because i’d like to know what they feel. y’know? just plain curiousness.

I don’t like parties at all and had very few friends so it was very uncomfortable. My friend didn’t even spend time with me she went and danced with her other friends, and me and my date sat in the hallway for the second half of the night cuz he was overstimulated from the noise. Hey, TBA, I used to teach high school Japanese in Baltimore City. Yeah, you are in control, as a teenager, at least insofar as your attitude may be (good or bad), but teens are so often not in control of their own lives. If you're not taught incisive critical skills from the beginning then you can't simply pick them up as you approach adulthood. And everybody's different, emotionally, developmentally, socially. I didn't have a good time in hs because I had to attend three different high schools. Of course, I made it through, but I experienced some bad shit. Sure, do what you can, but if it's out of your control then it's just a protracted losing battle that could drag you down. Keep your friends close, your enemies closer, as the saying goes, and do the best you can with what you've got. Peace (and best wishes).

People make high school seem like the time of your life and super fun, wild ad crazy, but honestly it's really not. You just go to school, study, eat lunch with some "friends" and go home. You never go on "adventures" or "vacations" with your friends. I mean in reality you're usually not even that close with your high school friends unless you've known them since you were born. And most likely your parents or theirs won't let you. High school is a fight for popularity, I lost SOOO many of my friends to the "popular group". My point is: high school is a piece of shit.

And high school was the best thing ever because I didn't take anything for granted, I found real friends, I was in marching band, I got ok grades and I focused on the things that mattered, I wasn't in drama. I know I still have a few months until graduation but I still realize that life is short. I had the best time in high school I won't be crying my last day because I'll be happy that I made friends to last me a lifetime and an education to last me. This video is supposed to inspire you. ***** but doing that creates more "could've should've would've but didn't"s. For instance; say you are invited to the first real party in your HS life, and there's booze there. Those with social anxiety issues and self confidence issues would avoid such a thing, if they overcome it they might end up having a good time...but on the other side of that same coin they could try too hard to fit in and get drunk and end up doing something they regret for the rest of their lives. Maybe it's just me, but that's the kind of social anxieties I live with. I'm sociable but still I'd rather not.

***** o________o welp that got rather deep quickly. I did get more sociable around my junior year of HS, I went to the school events for the first time cuz I made a bunch of overly social friends hahaha they got me into boxing and stuff. I don't think I changed a great deal; I'm definitely a lot more outgoing though and I'm really glad I changed for the better. I'm still pretty anti-social though but that's because I'm always really self-conscious about myself.

***** I've had plenty of chances to drink, smoke, or do drugs but I didn't do any of that. And I've been home schooled my whole life so kids stereotype me as "weird". And I always thought I was awkward but after meeting a lot of people in their mid 20s to mid 30s I found I could easily carry out a conversation with someone that didn't look at their phone every 60 seconds and wanted to smoke weed any chance they got. Not wanting to talk to people is fine, and sometimes good, but letting yourself be peer pressured into making a bad decision is a big sign of weakness and lack of self control/awareness.

Watching all of my friends getting close to graduation has been hard for me because I had to drop out junior year in order to leave an abusive home and be able to support myself. I've suffered from many severe mental illnesses from a very you age which stopped me from doing the majority of the things listed and watching this is kind of just a reminder that I'll ever get to have a normal youth life and it sucks

when I was in high school, I didn't have a whole lotta friends to do those fun things, I got my license to drive 4 days before my graduation ceremony, but I did the big and fun things like go to prom with the one I loved, go to every home football game sophmore year, became homecoming princess, and graduated with a GPA higher than 3.0. Not everyone gets to do those things but everyone has their own awesome accomplishments in high school.
