Really good point about it being a powerful testing tool. Especially good for reverse leakage threshold degradation detection. Had a power supply with excessive heating once, everything was testing perfect until I hooked up the main transistor to the tracer. Keep up the good job!

I use KEITHLEY source generator four quadrant, model 2450 and 2461 together with kickstart software to work as curve tracer for my transistor BJT and mosfet. I match mosfet for high end audio amplifier. work great .

Curve tracing is a forgotten art. Having taught Uni EE undergraduates over the last 20 years, I can tell you there is very little emphasis on such techniques. There is just not enough time in the curriculum!

For what it’s worth, I graduated BSEE in 2010 and one of our labs was to design a transistor amplifier and confirm performance based off of a curve tracer’s information. Tektronix 571. Another student developed a GPIB interface as their senior design project! How cool!

What about testing dual gate MOSFETs like the kind used as RF amps in a lot of radios? Is there any way to test them besides trying them in the circuit?

for gate 2 you use an dc voltage to preadjust and that's it

Yeah, he misspoke earlier in the video but states it correctly @15:42. He means to say that normal FET's work fine with the curve tracer, but MOSFET's do not.
