Great to see another brewing video. Looking forward to the next one to be honest😃 Loved the pour of milk at the very end of the video!

I think because it’s a narrow glass the large contact with the glass surfaces excites it too much! Glad you enjoyed the video, I hope to do another brew soon!

That's a rather large batch to experiment with ! Maybe you could tone down the sweetness by adding some isomerized hop extract. By the way do you happen to live close to a railway line😂

I did toy with that idea but the unpredictable results put me off. It’s better than it was, either I’ve adjusted to it or it’s settled down!

do you have to pay taxation on the finished ale?

As I’m commercially licensed I do, yes; even on the stuff I keep for myself.

You might find your hop sock too small for your early addition bittering hops. If you feel the need to use one, you need enough room in the sock for the hops to move about to get higher extraction yield of the alpha acids. You might also want to check your chloride to sulphate ratio in your water.

That’s a very valid point, I don’t use hop socks most of the time but after my last negative experience of using leaf hops I was keen to avoid the blockages I endured previously. I was advised about the chloride/sulphate ratio. A week on from when I recorded the video it’s much better. I’ve either adjusted to it or it’s settled down!
