So I watch drum videos on KZbin a lot. A lot. Techniques, grooves, studying the greats like Steve Gadd and Collaiuta and Bernard Purdy et al, and covers like this stuff. Got brought to your channel by a Tool cover. I was pretty impressed. Watched a couple more (Pantera’s “Regular People” and Incubus’ “The Warmth”) and was incredibly impressed. At that point, I was ready to call it a day and move on to other things. I accidentally clicked on this while finishing the Incubus song and decided I’d stick around since it had been so long since I’d heard the song. A classic. But I wasn’t sure what would really be so noteworthy about this song from a drumming perspective. So I was curious. And I thought your playing was exceptionally good on the first few tracks of yours I’d heard. So I decided, “yeah, I’m gonna do this. If he doesn’t fuck it up (which he won’t), I’ll still be listening to a great tune and watching more of this beautiful drum set. Let’s see what he does....” Buddy, your playing on this blew me right the fuck away. Period. I might have tuned into your videos whenever they popped up on my feed or whatever. After hearing this, they’ll hopefully pop up often because I just subscribed. You have gained another true fan by what you did here! So tasty, so classy, so perfect! I once heard Rodney Holmes described as a drummer who somehow plays every song the way it was meant to be played. He’s a great drummer and all, but I think that description would be far better applied to you. It was perfection! Thank you!
