I see this all over in small towns in nebraska. People not upkeeping structures as you watch them decay unnecessarily. Barns gone to waste and falling down, so the farmer puts up a new metal structure when the old barn with some care could have been saved. Old store fronts left to rot with missing windows. And when you try to rescue them, the owner wants a price unrealistic for the damage they've allowed to happen making it near impossible financially to do. Restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations close because everyone wants to be cheap instead of shopping your town. The only way these small towns survive is by people caring. When that leaves, everything goes with it. And you wonder why the closest gas station is now 25 miles away.

i was raised in union i left when i was 10 but still have a few friends that still live there i can tell what them old buildings are but u did for get to get pictures of the old jail house and the school and my parents are burried just east of town so i go visit there every year in fact i just moved back to texas from up there because my daghter and grand kids are here
