@@BenTalksTalentI didn’t ask a “tell me about a time…” question, but I did ask the interviewer “what happens when an employee (they call employees “members”) struggles or not meet goals, what would you do to help them?”. Would this count?

@@ttyoutube2020 yup. How was their answer?

@@BenTalksTalentThank you for asking and I’ll gladly share it here for anyone who comes across. I interviewed with 2 people, and when I asked that, 1 interviewer told me that if that happens: first, he’ll demonstrate to the struggling person how to do a certain procedure that they struggle with and let them shadow him right behind, then let the person practice until they get the hang of it. If not, they’ll have regular meeting to assess whether the job is right for them if no improvement is shown. That sounded reasonable to me, but I feel that it can be bit vague with the improvement or meeting goals part. What is your opinion on this?

I have almost never asked questions in a job interview. Never realized it was important. Now, not only do i know it's important, but i also know what to say. THANK YOU!!!

20:34 Ooh! I like that question! I am going to start asking that question at my upcoming interviews: “Do you feel that opportunities for growth snd advancement are allocated fairly?” That way I can test whether it is likely to be a hostile work environment - which I am in now and currently trying to get out of… The micro-management - and the stunting of my professional development… Also, the let’s look at your calendar and take your meetings and training opportunities off it - because you are complaining about your workload - your work comes first, do if you can’t meet your deadlines - you can’t log onto the trainings (for which I would just put them on in the background and listen, btw).

This is gold. I wanna ask them all, but usually the initial interview is like 30-40 minutes with only the last 10 minutes given to the candidate to ask questions. I guess I'll have to prioritize some over others and save the others for a 2nd interview, or just pick the most important ones. Dammit, I wanna counter interview them!

3:55 - "How urgent are you looking to fill this role?" -- it may be the right answer, but I see it as, "we're not really trying to hurry to fill the role". Inside myself, I role my eyes because I need a job now and want you to hurry up and hire me if I want the job.

So I took your advice and I asked the question of how is the companies culture! I was so impressed by the General Managers response - it went from a very quick "I've never been asked that before, that's a great question to ask. Here how it is here...." without stumble without effort! Honestly, I came from a pretty toxic environment so it was so good to hear how there's was! This particular interview had been moved 3 times due to him coming down with Covid and the internal recruiter not being on top of things - but went extremely well. So I had a challenge right of the start of the interview! It was a Teams interview (all good) however he was driving, so I had to shift how I had planned to respond to the usual questions (I had samples as these are technical ICT roles). I've watched quite a few of your advisory videos now and put some of it into place in this interview. I haven't checked for your phone interview tips - but they sure would've been handy yesterday :) What's the outcome you are probably wondering? Well, we are progressing towards hire! :)
