I’d travel here just to use these. The fact that they are not all busted up, the utensils are still where the (city?) (proprietors?) leave them says a lot about the country.

High social cohesion and a lot more publicly-shared facilities and public goods - transport, baths, etc. Also, the vending machines that are selling ready-to-eat foods that need utensils are often checked multiple times per day if they see a lot of traffic. The US used to have the world's most amazing vending machine (the Capitol Hill Mystery Soda machine in Seattle), but it's been gone for years.

yesterday I went to my Japanese grocery store and got some sort of beautiful flavored sponge cake that had the lightest fluffiest creamiest whipped cream filling inside. It wasn’t overly sweet but it was absolute perfection. I’m going to Japan at some point I have to and I’m really afraid all I’m gonna do is eat dessert there.
