James, you are so fortunate to have such a wonderful friend as Will. Thru bad time and good times never forget those that have stood by you.

It's amazing how 1 event in our lives motivates us into doing what we had been putting off due to lack of enthusiasm. You will find that it will help with heat lose as well.

Very smart-looking oak and steel together--I always knew oak was a hard wood, but watching you work with it made me realize how hard it really is.

Love your curtain rails. Maybe you might like to do what I have done before. Buy curtains sets with tab tops. Here in Australia the bargain shops often have sets very cheap in comparison to curtain fabric off the roll. Cut to the length you want. I'm sure your mum would be able to hem them .. The cut off bits could be turned into cushion covers or some other useful items. I'm with mum though... making tab tops is not easy.

I wish I could help you decorate and have the money to help you. My husband and I look forward to your vlogs and the gray is nice and Manley, but you need to pick up some more colors from the tile, like the orange 🍊 and cream and a bit of green would go nicely in there as well. Go to some thrift shops and see if they have foam or foam cushions you can take apart and spray glue together if need be to complete the foam you need for the eating area and sleeping areas! You can sometimes find fabric at the thrift shops as well, or ask them where you can go. Also, shirts and sweaters make great pillow covers, perhaps your Mum can help with those items, or she can show you how. You seem to have acquired an immense amount of knowledge about things over the years, decorating your Narrowboat should be easy and as I said thrift shops and/or habitat stores like we have in The States have many things that are nice and cheap to help you complete it! Money is always a problem when you have children as they always come first as you’ve indicated and should in my book, but you can survive if you thrift shop easier. Take care of yourself!

James, if the tabs are too difficult to attach over your curtain rods, you could consider small chrome carbiner clips attached over the rods then inserted through small openings in the top of the curtains - kinda like button holes. Or sew some chrome rings onto the tops of curtains to accept the carbiner clips. I hope this makes sense.

Instead of carbiner clips, you could use split rings attached to the rods.

I'm not going to say one thing about where your safety glasses might be. Also, curtains are a pain in the caboose. Yours turned out very nice. A lot of work! Once you get the material up it will overlap very nicely.

Make sure you use waterproof curtains for the shower room trust me otherwise they will go mouldy if it’s fabric😀

Consider wool woven curtains (picnic rugs)with a lining sandwiched in between, excellent thermal qualities for winter/summer months and you don’t see water stained curtain linings from the outside, hated mine when I brought my boat but soon realised they were carefully designed for the environment situated. Mums right, tab tops will not form a seal as efficiently around the wall/window.

Cloth tabs won’t slide very easily, you could buy already made black out drapes with rings sewn in. Just cut off excess material and hem the bottoms. Use excess material for tie backs. Your mother can easily do that. Order on Amazon, easy peasey!!🥰

You could stretch a bit of cord across the bottom to tuck the curtain in. Easy to install, adjustable , easy to replace.

Hi James, be aware that your curtains will create a trapped pocket of air between the glass and curtains when closed. expect some condensation. 👍🏼

Simple rectangles of hemmed fabric and curtain rail clips might work? I like seeing the curtain rail too! What you made looks really nice, looks like you enjoyed the creative process too!

Hi James. You were very kind to your intruder, I would have completely freaked out! I'm pretty sure I can make the curtains for you. I can't get to my boat during the week after work so can sew them in the evenings. If you're interested let John know & I'll ask him to send you my contact details.

You might have to slightly drop the curtain brackets to make space for when you are fitting the cornices.

Thinking your rails ,Are not long enough to allow the curtains to sit comfortably either side of the window when gathered and fit the bathroom you could always fit a roller blind that is waterproof which will give you privacy when your bathroom lights on at night time.

Seems you have a knack for working with wood. You also seem to enjoy it. Your mom is right. You should have the curtains that slide through a small sleeve on top and bottom of the material. Why do our kid’s always reject our ideas?

All coming together James and well done mate. But curtains!!! :-/ No, not the best I think, and also the pole wooden brackets. Why all that work when you could have bought something that would looked better. I also noticed for your sit down chats, you have elevated the camera so that are viewed from the waist up. Does that mean you are crossing your legs again??? :-)
