We live in a world where they make movies they don't care if people like as long as it makes money, where goods are built to break, where customer service is passed around until the customer gives up trying, but the dedication you show to your craft really restores faith in humanity, your determination to address every detail so thoroughly is so rare these days, sir you are appreciated

Hi Jerry, Just watched all three films great entertainment what a fine craftsman. I am sat in bed in northern England whilst quarantined with this coronavirus and what better way to pass the time. Thanks so much when we finally get through this ordeal I'm going to set about my old 57 Hofner congress you have inspired plenty of amateur pickers on this side of the pond. Jerry I hope you take a sec. and read this. I really feel you need to take a short break and take sometime to yourself. It really seems the trolls and other opinions are getting under your skin. Sir you are a master craftsman and your work speaks for itself. you have a heart of gold and so much love for what you do. Please stop letting these idiots get to you. Its not worth it messing with your nerves. You never should have to make excuses for how or why you do what you do. I just wish I had the talent you have in you pinky toe. Id be tickled pink. Thank you sir for your videos they inspire me. you are a good man. I hope God continues to bless you and keep you and your family healthy and strong. Least I will being praying he does that for you. Thanks you again.

Indeed. I agree, Jerry, don't let them get under your skin. we have unique gifts and unique ways of using them and what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you. And I have heard you say repeatedly that you have tried a lot of the suggestions people have made. You be you, Jerry. It is the best "thank you" you can express to God.

well I'm not gonna suggest Jerry take a break necessarily, but everything else you say there is spot on. We all do things a bit different with our instruments, but the fact is what Jerry does here is pretty darn amazing and the critics can go sit in the corner and watch and learn something. ignore the idiots. you simply do fantastic work and I enjoy every single video you post.

What a fantastic job, everything I hoped for and more. The break angle on the strings over the new bridge is amazing, what a transformation. The tuning key popped off the first day I had the guitar, I was so disappointed. I pushed it back on with a dab of suprglue! Your fix is so much better, it only waited about 30 years for you to do the job properly. I can’t thank you enough for your thorough master craftsmanship.and addressing all the issues the guitar threw at you. Seeing you clean the guitar was so helpful, I guess I have always been worried about applying a cleaner and wax but what a great job. .it was a mission getting the guitar from the UK to your workshop but it was 100% worth it. Having the repair on video is fantastic. Huge thanks John

I Really enjoy your videos! I am a musician (Guitar and Bass) and have been for 55 years. 40 years ago I was blessed to make a good friend (Luthier) and I was able to watch him minute by minute while he built his guitars, both acoustic and electric. He schooled me thru building myself a six string electric Guitar and a four string electric Bass which I still play to this day. My friend was as much a perfectionist as you are and you make me feel as though I'm right there with him. He passed 10 years ago and I miss him a lot. I'm glad I found your channel and wish you well. I'm planning my retirement. Not the financial end of things, but what I'm gonna do. It will mostly involve some learning to build guitars, and delving into fixing 'em. Got some jigs rigged, and some tools. What has made for a steep learning curve for me is taking old guitars from the local thrift shop, trying to make a learning experience, taking them apart where necessary and seeing how they tick. Seeing how to remove a back or a bridge. In the background, I'm making a dreadnought from scratch! Thanks Jerry, what you have left for posterity is an unrivaled gold mine. Mark

I thought I kept my nails short. Then I started learning to play guitar and I learned just how short they actually need to be after the first time I dug into a fretboard. That was the last time, too. I accidentally sanded a notch into the fretboard when I was crowning frets one day. Didn't realize the sand paper was hanging down and dragging until it was too late. Luckily it's literally right behind the fret. As close as you could probably get. Sorry if I've been overloading your comment section, Jerry! I've been binging your vids for 48 hours now lol 😎👍

I know some people just dont look at the big picture when it comes to reparing guitars. It's one thing for someone to sit behind a computer and play armchair luthier and it's another to actually do the work. In some cases it's just not worth the amount of work it would take in order to take a guitar apart. Plus it's always a risk when doing that, that something could crop up that makes it even worse. You just never know. You do exceptional work and always do what's right in your heart. The people that think you should be doing something different really are in no position to be making any statements. It's really difficult to say what should be done without even seeing the guitar up close and in person. I believe you have proven time and time again that if you feel it's not in the guitars best interest or in the customer's best interest, to take a guitar apart then that is good sound advice from someone who knows his craft and it would be sound advice to follow. Anyway, I love watching your video's, you definitely do great work.

That fingerboard is actually much better looking when you clean and sand it off like that. Comes closer to matching that nice bridge you made. And to be honest, I like the look of the grain much better than the dark, almost one color look it had before. Kind of like the ebony that you're starting to see more of with the streaks and colors in it. I much prefer that to the solid black look. Great work putting that neck back on. Carbon paper is a pretty useful material once you realize it doesn't have to just be used for copying things. It's my tool of choice for things like violin bass bars as well as neck joints. You can get a MUCH tighter fit with it. ETA: After seeing your fret wire bender, I made one of my own. It's not as well done as yours, but it sure does the job, and I had all the materials already, so it didn't cost me an additional thing. VERY useful tool. Thanks for that idea! ETA: That is a lovely song, I'm sorry you didn't do the last verse, I'd have loved to hear it. What a sad story. At least they got to hear a good show before she died. I hate it when people lose loved ones in such a useless manner.

While I certainly agree with those comments about not letting peoples comments get to you, I did find it very valuable and informative to hear those very same things addressed and mentioned, and having you, a true pro, show us where it's at and why. I found it great and very informative, like addressing the crowd that'd be up in arms for not putting a bone nut or rebracing the guitar, and why/how that's amateur talk. Although, on the same token, gotta let those things slide off of you for sure, like water on a ducks back.
