I tried out the term “bits and bobs” the other day. In Kentucky. Everyone froze and looked at me like I was an alien. 😂 As flexible as the English language is, some of it just doesn’t translate easily from British to American.

I love these small boats. I often wonder what the smallest boat is that I could live on. After all, I could easily live in a small touring caravan so even some of these smaller boats are nearly double the length of a small caravan. I lived in a 14ft touring caravan for about a year whilst I saved for a static caravan and those were some of my most happy memories.

I can almost hear him now going "neener neener neener, you can't do this" to the longer narrowboats. :D And best of luck to all those working on getting Miss Tadpole up and running! Bravo to these guys for saving history and enjoying the water , we live in Australia I'm originally from England Weatherby as a child of four with my parents explored the country locks , just before emigration to Australia, those images have stayed with me, the thought of living on the water, my family of 4 now live aboard a 40 foot pilot cutter, have for 8 years our youngest has lived on the water since birth he is now 8 , and now that our boys are growing we have added another yacht to our collection for extra space with them rafted up ,she is a 31 foot Schooner built of Australian hardwood in the 60s, in a few years maybe a little more we plan to sail our wooden Schooner back to England and see these wonderful old long short boats, and the many historical boats there are , great job guys let there be more of it aye! .

Another great episode, David. I forgot to tell you a short story. A Facebook friend and I were talking about camper vans and I mentioned that I had been considering retiring to a narrowboat. He lives in a yurt with solar so I thought he might enjoy the episode on electric narrowboats and so sent him a link. He wrote back, "Oh, I love his channel. Been watching for some time. His is the best narrowboat channel." So, two Americans about a thousand miles apart, whose only real common interest is recumbent bicycles (the conversation of that day was off-topic for us) are both fans of your channel. 🙂 Alex

Hi David, I love this concept - thanks. I'm living tiny in Africa at present, staying in a place for a month or 2 and then moving on using a caravan as my home. I lived on my 35ft power boat in the USA for 4 years and just love this way of life. We don't need a large space to live - it's just more to clean 😋 Anyway thanks for all your videos, you've opened up a new world for so many of us. My next step is to do what you're doing in the UK when I'm finished with Africa, then a school bus around the states for a few years and by then I'll be about 80, so will have to see. Fond regards, thanks again, Don Morris.
