Wonderful news! Amtrak's California Surfliner needed two more trains to fill the gaps, especially on the weekends. It would be even more divine to expand the route all the way to San Francisco and advertise a separate route to Las Vegas.

Although that is a possible impact, there are a couple of items to consider which make that less likely. First, the Pacific Surfliner fare is expensive. It’s true that homeless can ride a stop or two without buying a ticket before the conductor may notice. What I have observed in those situations, the conductor makes them exit at the next stop. Second, when the train reaches the terminus, it goes out of service and everyone must exit. This prevents one from living on the train all day.
