Former WBA world super-middleweight champion George Groves joins Rob Tebbutt on Episode 28 of the Boxing Social Podcast.
Rob asks George his thoughts on Saturday's undisputed super-middleweight title bout between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant, as well as his experiences of sparring Gennady Golovkin.
George also discusses life after boxing, including his time working with former ring rival Carl Froch on their nationwide tour.

Meet George a few months back, When he was out doing his food shopping. I was completely starstruck but FairPlay to him he had a chat with me he also gave me his opinions on a few things. No ego no arrogance. Complete gentleman and a fantastic boxer 👊🏻😉

George lived up to your expectations of him being a non ego type of guy. But what would this comment have looked like if he told you to fuck off?

Rob’s a brilliant interviewer not just because of his knowledge, but because he doesn’t interrupt or interject when the other person is talking. Great podcast again keep up the good work, I’d love to see the guys from Undefeated Podcast (Travis and KG) on here btw. 👊🏼💪🏼

This is brilliant. I’ll never forget being at Wembley surrounded by Froch fans, cheering for Groves all the way. Needless to say my knuckles ended up being ruined for weeks after. Team Groves.

If it wasn't for Howard Foster ruining George's psyche and career, he would have achieved even greater things. Respect for coming back in adversity when you never should have needed to. Brilliant boxer, fighter and analyst. Knows the game inside out and most importantly speaks objectively. Also shout out to the best boxing channel about.

I think George is heavily underrated , in his prime he was a serious fighter , I just think he never fully recovered after the second froch fight , but he had that much talent he managed to get what he had left together and still beat the chudinov in good fashion and win the world title , and then go on to defend it and smack up eubank jnr I think if George wasn’t stopped in the first froch fight he would of gone on to unify

Great interview! Always a fan of George from early on. Was a little unlucky in a couple of his world title fights (froch 1 and badou jack) but he was always exciting. Saw him out and about with his family last year, he seems to be enjoying his retirement. Good insights here, hope the tour goes well

It's strange that GG picked AJ to beat Usyk because he is the bigger man, but then picked Wilder to beat Fury who is smaller in height and 30lbs in weight than Fury. The difference between Usyk and AJ in terms of weight was less than the difference between Wilder and Fury. Usyk has been beating up heavyweights since 2013 which if people did their homework properly was the most obvious sign that he would have no problems against AJ.

Top man Double G . Brilliant Boxing talker and for my money would have given Canelo a severe test at SMW- Had the rights tools to beat him - Reach/speed and enough power to him. Also with Double G on Caleb in that he will a big challenge to SCA - will go the distance IMO and perhaps do well enough to get robbed on the cards. Alvaraz on Pts/Gift 9/4 A bet Ive lumped on.

I really liked the genuine needle and animosity between Froch and Groves back then, but I also like the fact that they’re on good terms nowadays. None of that fake act you see from some boxers to sell a fight and then start hugging like BFF’s the second the fight is over
