Thank you so much! You just saved my life. I didn't know what to do with the back of some wedding themed coasters I am making. This is the answer I was looking for. :)

Stunning tiles! Thank you for sharing how you cover their backs w cork. What kind of pen do you use to colour the edges? Are they waterproof? Lovely video, thank you.
@MauzyCreations Жыл бұрын
Hello. Usually I'm using just a sharpie or an acrylic pen. Is I touch up the sides I seal that with resin but the bottoms I don't worry about. They get coloured in and covered in cork.

Hi. Various places. Here in Australia sometimes in spotlight which is a store selling fabrics, bedding, arts and crafts supplies and other homewares. Sometimes discount dollar stores have it too.

How to get the same glaze you have on your coasters. They are so beautiful. I love them.
@MauzyCreations5 жыл бұрын
Hi Meera. The shine is because I used epoxy resin. You need one with a higher heat tolerance so you can use them for cups of tea/coffee

Thank you for sharing.. Are the tile edges resined? If so, you use the marker to finish off the edges n back? How long does it take for the E6000 to dry? Just getting close to work with resin. Thank You
@MauzyCreations4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes the sides are resined. Sometimes I use a marker for the back and sometimes I don't. E6000 dries pretty quick.

What do you seal your coasters with so a hot cup won’t stick?
@MauzyCreations2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It has varied over time but for the last few years I have used Stonecoat Artcoat.
@catherineobrien41002 жыл бұрын
@@MauzyCreations does that protect against the heat of a cup of coffee ? I resined all my coasters and they looked beautiful them I discovered that they stick to anything warm. I applied duplicolor clear coat that a KZbinr said worked…. If you wait a week it appears to work. The problem is it leaves bubbles from the spray and you can’t torch it…. It ruins the beautiful gloss of the resin. I will look up your product if you say it works
@catherineobrien41002 жыл бұрын
@@MauzyCreations oh I just looked it up and it is resin. So this resin works against heat?
@MauzyCreations2 жыл бұрын
@@catherineobrien4100 here is a heat test I did kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHKliZSFfdmUd5Y. Stone Coat Epoxy is heat-resistant up to 470 degrees Fahrenheit / 243 degrees C

What do you use as filler on the back of the tile before you glue the cork on? Very cool work!
@MauzyCreations4 жыл бұрын
Nothing. I just use e6000 glue and it works fine. There must be enough contact points.

Beautiful. Before you resin your tile coasters do you spray or clean off the silicone? I've new to pouring. Do you know the amount of resin needed to do a certain number tiles? Thanks for sharing.
@MauzyCreations6 жыл бұрын
Hi. I don't use silicone but when I did, I would clean off the tile. Not sure off top of my head the amount. I use a resin calculator online.

Hi Rochelle. I get them from two places generally. Spotlight (www.spotlightstores.com/) and sometimes my local discount dollar store has them.

Hi Debbie. 4x coasters on their own I usually sell for $25 Australian $ but have been wondering if that's too cheap. Otherwise I include them with cheese boards and discount them because of being a set.

this video was very helpful. I was wondering though how do you typically package this if your are shipping ? I recently starting selling my items- I hope you respond thank you
@MauzyCreations4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Good luck with selling your items!! To be honest I don't think I have had to post ship coasters... oh no I have once or twice. Mostly I have sold them in person at markets or to people who have picked up. When I posted with a matching board, I did not stack the coasters. I laid them out flat on the board and wrapped the whole thing in paper first, then lots of bubble wrap and shipped in a box. If only shipping coasters I would probably stack them, wrap in paper, then bubble wrap and maybe extra padding in a box that isn't too much bigger than the coasters plus wrapping. You want a snug fit (no rattling in transit). I always wrap in paper first because bubble wrap does leave impressions on resin so I want a barrier between the resin and the bubble wrap. Hope that helps.

I'm concerned that the tiles are slippery for a wet glass. Mine have varnish over the paint.
