I wouldn't say their possessed by evil spirits. they're just missed informed. It's perfectly normal to have doubts against prophets since there are unfortunately a lot of false ones. That's why the Bible tells us to test the spirits to see if their from God.

I remember anothe testimony that tbjoshua told a man to not leave the scoan without seeing him.as warning something will happen, the man did not wait and left scoan without seeing tbj in the office, when he got home his wife threw accid on him and burned his complete face.
