My sister has a lavish wedding, of course she spent her own money, but people still criticized the food. So in short you cannot make everyone happy. On the other hand I had a court marriage, no party at all and spent the money on a long good frugal honeymoon. And let me tell you I have more money than my sister because she lives for others and I live for myself. Spend and invest wisely and you will have a comfortable retirement.

Better to contradict ourselves to find meaning.😂

Marriage is one time in life. Need to make it special. But is it just by making it grand by spending money. A avg middle class spends almost 5-6 lakhs for marriage. One side yes these marriage occasions gives work to many but is it worth for a middle class person. He could have bought a maruthi car instead taking it on loan later. Youths needs to grow up and understand before marriage than repenting after marriage. Wedding can be held in any auspicious temple or a small party hall with max 1-2 lakhs budget.

I and my partner managed to plan our marriage in this pandemic just to save my family's money.. He didn't ask for any dowry His family even said to get married in a temple.. I told my parents to understand how important there money was. But they are not getting it. They are ready to waste 30lakh on our marriage but are not ready to give that money to me or not to spend any. They says "achha lagta hai, jb log hansenge humpe, 1 beti th uspe bh kharch nh kia".. I even told my well educated parents to buy me a house/land with that money rather than wasting on guest but they are like " Tum ko isiliye itna pdha likha k bada kia jo job krne k bawjood humse ghar maangrhi. " .. Seriously they never understand I even asked my father to get the card printed with "mask is mandatory" On it.. My mother says -batao ab hum card mai bh mask likhenge, log hansenge nh... I asked them to call only the closed ones, but there guest list is of 350-500 people . When I objected they said-"kis kis ko mana krenge, log peeth peeche baat krenge zrur kuch hua hoga tbhi kam logo m shadi krdi.. Aur fir humne 25 saal se sbko dia hai, ab shadi m hi to milega wapas" Gosh!!!
