So weird remembering that "Family Matters" did not originally have Urkel in the cast or that "Baywatch" looked vastly different when it premiered on NBC from what we know of it in syndication. Plus, wow, Ellen DeGeneres, Allyson Hannigan and Halle Berry before they were famous. Not to mention, jeez, the 80's and that hair!

I remember Open House, but I remember it was originally called Duet. I met Chris Lemmon several times in the 90s and never remembered he was on that show. He came into my work several times and I always begged him to bring his father, Jack Lemmon, next time so I could meet him. I was obsessed wih Jack Lemmon at the time.

Open House and Duet were separate shows. Duet was canceled to make way for Open House, which took a few characters from Duet and put them into a new premise.

One of m faves. I'm glad I was able to get it on DVD. I loved all the reunion movies, especially the first one, which resolved the cliffhanger that ended the series. I really want to buy that set of movies, but it's damned expensive!

This is really interesting. Not so much for the shows, which seem mostly forgettable, but for the huge range of visual styles. Everything from nostalgia for the FBI of 1962 to the breakthrough caused by late 80s advances in video editing. Even a late 70s/early 80s style hand-drawn animation with The Nutt House.

i had forgotten that baywatch started out as a series on nbc. but nbc didn't believe in the show and gave up on it after only one season. the show didn't really get big until it went out onto syndication

The Simpsons were supposed to debut in the fall, but the animation for many episodes had to be redone and it didn't debut until December. That particular series has been renewed for its 31st and 32nd seasons.

@@LaDracul Again, it’s a horrible decision to put that in the opening sequence of the show. I said nothing about whether or not it’s something that could happen in real life. But the opening sequence of a show is essentially an ad for the show. They are saying, “come watch a preteen obsess about her chest, perverts!” Critical thinking and analysis is difficult for some people.

Though about "Chicken Soup" recently with the death of Jackie Mason at 93 years old. His costar, Lynn Redgrave died of cancer, I believe, several years ago. Rest In Peace Jackie and Lynn.

Not for this specific case- both Coach and Quantum Leap debuted as mid-season replacements in '89 (Coach in February, Quantum Leap in March). That means they would have both been in their second seasons at this point.

NO!!!! Chicken Soup!!! ABC's worst offering of that season. Many critics called it horrible, the "Chemistry" between dumpy Mason and way too hot for him, Redgrave was non-existent and pointless. I only watched Peaceable kingdom because Lindsay was hot, dreadful show.
