After breakfast let’s take a walk in Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. It’s a city park located on an area of about 18 hectares in the Medeu district of Almaty. The park was named in honor of 28 Panfilov guardsmen in memory of the feat accomplished during the Great Patriotic War. It was they who prevented the attack of Germans in November 1941.
The main architectural sightseeing of the park is the Ascension Cathedral. It was built in 1907 under the guidance of the architect A. Zenkov. The building has been constructed without a single nail and is so durable that it remained intact after the 10-point earthquake in 1911. And is one of the tallest wooden churches in the world. Its height is 54 meters.
This park is a very cozy place where Almaty residents come to have a walk with their kids, to feed pigeons and just to relax on a bench all year round
