John is spot on about the dangers of dirt in the float bowls, but wrong to say you need to fix in on the bench. I fitted a new hose between the filter and the carb (brand new, braided) and the car then 'failed to proceed' about 40 mins later. Fuel was overflowing from the front carb. Luckily I was able to get the float bowl off at the roadside, clean out the black rubber particles and fix it back on. A truly awkward job as it's secured by 4 almost invisible upside-down slotted screws. I now always carry a stubby screwdriver and spare float bowl gaskets in the car. I also flush through any new fuel hoses before fitting them to these interestingly designed carbs.

Have you got a video of HIF44 overhaul at all? Can’t find one.

I think my problem is bad hose to the carbs. How much of the carbs do I need to take apart to clean out the hose particles?

Green hose, huh? Probably a good idea. Gates makes a superior product. Found that out thirty years ago. Give JT benefit of doubt here. There is some awful crap out there. Stick with stuff that is known to work well. Surprises that stop or wreck a car are no fun. Always look forward to one of these videos. Keep at it,please.

Wonder if you can put a pipe between the carbs instead of hose?

I bet you could rob some braid off of an -3 or -4 AN hose.
