This engine is also in the A4 B8 late model facelift (190HP CNHA) and due to it being longitudinal mounted with the DPF crap on the left side and not the back of the engine, EGTs are much more managable, probably due to airflow. I am running 220Hp stable with temps up to 850°C

LFX v6 in my 5th gen camaro sounds a lot like this. 3.6l, exhaust manifolds build in to the heads direct injection, want performance cams 700-1200$ each for 4 of them hardly a notice able difference from people who have them made in AU, the exhaust dump pipes only 1 each side of the head and there a weird oval/square shape so cant run a full 3 inch, x pipe is your only gain all performance is internally built in to the motor from factory, and supercharger kits that run well in to 8-15 grand un less i want to dump serious cash in to a v6 camaro all i can do is body kits suspension and lights oh and if you dont run a catch can your engine will get carbon build up on the intake valve that grenades the motor after the motor starts to burn a quart of oil every 1000miles. its one of those so much potential but the engineer was told half way that its going to make up mostly rental car sales. im part of the 10% of sales that said ooohhhhh it comes in manual. should of got the TDI jetta SportWagon it was sitting next to some of the stuff i look up worries me a lot about my cars future of just driving for the 3.6 there just so bad.

Great build, big respect for it. Have the same car and thought about similar mods but now after watching this build i think i’ll stay just with an remap. Dont think its worth that amount of work... but my question is would not be easier to swap the 240hp unit? You can get easy 300hp with just stage 1... and there is still room for next mods. What do you guys think? 😉

The CUAA is rare and expensive even used. That's what we would do if we had to have a Mk7 based project. Or just buy a Mk6 with the better engine, 450hp on diesel only in the Arosa and 320hp in track spec in the Citigo, both pretty much smoke free, can't get better than that!

With EGT’s being the limiting factor- have you gone down the road of water injection? I know that water injection will lower EGT’s on larger diesels- I don’t see why it wouldn’t for this application, though I’m not sure how much it would drop the temps and if it would have a decent ROI.

Mk7 GTD engines are not suited to the track. An oil cooler might help a bit but you need to take out 20hp to get it reliable. 120c is OK. I'd monitor oil pressure to be sure as the oil pumps are crap in those too.

I love the hot hatch battles against the usual cars people track I’ve had real fun with a properly setup mqb chassis with all the assists turned off on OBD eleven and a nice big rear arb it’s like a 205 Gti just oil temps worry me it’s a shame

As you were explaining the cylinder head design and the operation of the cam shafts I was saying out loud: nooooooooo! lmfao my dream of making one of these common rails make ridiculous levels of power ain't gonna happen lol I would literally have to do some Steve Morris level shit and make my own billet head with traditional intake geometry and cam timing/ phasing (like a K series). At that point might as well go billet block but then the whole engine isn't even the same damn design lol you're making a whole new design at that point. Idk I just have a fascination with making a small, light weight turbo 4 diesel that can make K20/ K24 levels of HP but V8 levels or more of torque... Solves all of the torque issues of a turbo 4 but with the packaging benefits and the hp as well.

I am now getting a downpipe (without a cat and DPF) for my new car in the hope I don't damage the turbo again, but with this small difference in EGT's it doesn't matter that much?
