I think they are trying to create more angst in a situation in which two, stubborn people are already losing their line of sight. I just want her to go to go through her rebirth because she's suffered her entire life.

If the female lead continue uses MISCOMMUNICATION to “use” the male lead, I’m quitting this drama 😡 it’s already annoying the first time (such cliche yet unrealistic “I’m saving you so I need to lie to you”) but I stuck through this because of other good aspects. If you read the novel JYH’s character was written with that thought ( hiding the truth from Changyi) because like what every commenter wrote below, she’s dying. What’s the use of telling him the truth. It’ll only make him suffer and feel guilty that everything she did was for his freedom. So on this aspect the drama is in tune with the novel.The annoying part in the drama is the insertion of the unnecessary fox clan because they’re taking too much screen time. Changyi and Ji Yun He have still too many romantic scenes I.e. underwater in a clam shell etc.

The preview order of cuts: (1) Yun He admits to "plotting" against Chang Yi again, (2) Qing Yao accuses "so, you really have betrayed Chang Yi", (3) make it look like Chang Yi agrees with Qing Yao with "you've done all this just for the sake of escaping?" These quick sequences work to condemn Yun He for betraying Chang Yi. We are led to believe that indeed, Yun He betrays Chang Yi once again. Of course, until we realise there is no context around what is it that Yun He is plotting. Or is Qing Yao a reliable accuser or judge of anything Yun He. (The girl has impulsively attacked Yun He, believes Chang Yi owes her an explanation about his relationship with Yun He, involves her recently injured dad in an attack of 'the other girl'. No, she doesn't sound like a reliable witness.) And while Chang Yi looks upset, if taken in the context of just the words, he reacts so because it appears that Yun He wants to leave him. Leaving him is the concern, not plotting or betrayal. It was only in episodes 27-28 that Chang Yi quietly admits to Yun He: "it was [never about] the hate, it was [always about] you". This confession reminds me that Chang Yi has never let anything - even perceived betrayal - stop him from believing or loving Yun He. I believe this goes against the possibility that Chang Yi would feel betrayed by Yun He plotting or that he would even consider siding with Qing Yao over Yun He. While the preview wishes to stir things up, I believe in Chang Yi's faith in Yun He. I suspect in 29-30, we are going to see Chang Yi swiftly and sternly deal with the rabble that is the Wolf Clan and just obsess over Yun He's near escape. Maybe no more sugared garlic but I would be surprised if Yun He remains conscious after the fight with the Wolf King. By this point, Yun He should only be days away from dying. Bring on the Showdown.

Actually Chang Yi knows that she has done all those things for him to be free. He is not stupid. HE just never liked the way she chose for it to happen, and that she forced him out to escape but remained trapped to cover his way out. THAT is what he has been mad about all the time. That she always handle things on her own - mostly always in extreme and even cruel ways - and always leaves him in the dark, like his is a useless Merman that can't help himself at all. 😂 😂 😂 HE knows this side of her... and he is always going to be mad at her for being like this... but he is never going to blame her for it. He just shows how much he disapproves of it in his own ways. 😉 Why does he knows this now? Because he understood finally after "betraying" her two times in crucial moments out of trust, and realizing how mistakenly his own reasoning process was. He learned that lesson in a very hard way... but he did... learn it. Cheers...!

@@JustThai_BoysLove I have a feeling you're hinting at Chang Yi's perspective after he is told the truth about the cliff event at some point in the future. Because at this point in the story, while he is certainly aware enough to pick up there is more to the cliff event than Yun He lets on, he doesn't know for sure. I don't think the drama (and certainly not in the novel) Chang Yi somehow intuits everything and is just reacting to Yun He leaving him in the dark. Otherwise, the reaction and dialogue after Xian Ji spills the beans would be meaningless i.e. Chang Yi doesn't show he knew all along. But, I certainly agree he is not stupid. He is just mad and sad that the love of his life is dying. By this point, I don't think he gives a fig about betrayal details. He just wants to confirm if Yun He truly loves him or not,. Because she said she didn't at the cliff. This explains the scene when Chang Yi says it was never about the hate, it was about you. Ergo, if it was about betrayal it would be about the hate. If it's purely about Yun He, then it's about her. Glad the man has his priorities straight. I know. Can't wait until A Ji bursts into the picture. She's awfully funny without meaning to.

@@nudafu633 I don't know the novel... I am talking only from the Drama's storyline at to this point (Episode 28). Nope. It is NOT in the Future. There are many different scenes that mades it obvious to me: The opening scene of Episode 25.... the opening scene of Episode 26 specially when Chiang Yi analyzes the escape of the beings captive in the Fairies Palace.... YUN He releasing her bound back to LOLO... and some others. They all have one point in common: How YUN HE always helped others to escape and always remained behind to take the anger of those actions on herself. When I place all these moments together it becomes crystal clear to me that he "knows" deep inside his heart what she did, and why. Even without being told all the details of each situation he can "see" thru them all. Of course... that doesn't change his disappointment... but it makes him want to take care of her even more. I don't think that Chang Yi wants her to say that she loves him again... because he has been able to understand that now from her actions, and all the many people who loves her and have been help by her.... but specially seeing how desperately she is ready to die, and the many times she has said "Goodbye" to him most have make it obvious to him that she will never say such words of love again. She may show him her love with kindness and wishes... like when she made for him what we could call in English a mithril coat... (what is that called in the novel?) but she will never ever tell him again... that she loves him. She wants him to be completely free from her... so she can't go back on her own words now anymore. Up to this point (Episode 28) Chang Yi has completely understood that... and that is why he always so desperate to extend her life - even against her will - for himself. HE is not ready to let her go... and I am sure he will never be. SHE on the contrary let go of everything already back in Episode 14 when she pushed him down on the cliff... so she will keep on looking for chances and ways to end her life in an honorable way. AND yet... there are some scenes coming up next from a wedding... so I believe they will get married at some point. Maybe something does happens next that makes her change her mind for a while... to open up to Chang Yi once again. We will have to see what that is from the next Episodes. Cheers...!!
