I downloaded the video and watch the first 40 minutes and this interview is amazing, thank you for introducing us to this amazing world of medicine and I find it fascinating and really informative. I learned a lot and I love the world of medicine regardless of the branch, even if I am not a doctor and if my work is not related to it. I love to read, watch documentaries, interviews and even watch real operations on this subject. Dr. Ma is amazing, she is so nice and explain very well the procedures, the types of anesthesia and his role in a operation in surgery. Thank you Dr. Ma and Dr. Towfigh ❤️

My mom just got the hernia surgery she is at the hospital since this Monday night they only let one family member to be there I do call her from my house to her cellphone I'm so worry I'm far away from her I hope she goes home soon and get well. 😫 Do you think she is going to be ok? She said the doctor said something about blood clots I don't know what is that but she says she feels ok just feels sleepy and want to sleep that they are giving her chicken soup and gelatin banana milk 3 times a day I said they truly are taking care of her good I mean they better she also told me that they were moving her to another room I don't know why my mom didn't told me there's so little I can do from far away I will go today over there and get there tomorrow to go see her me and my brother don't talk so yeah i do hope my mom gets well at 💯 🙏 🥺

Hi I have an umbilical hernia, is it possible to get sedation and local anesthesia? I was told the procedure is only 30 minutes .

Just between these Two dymanic duos in the operating room, the patient has almost nothing to worry about besides recovery. 😉🤪😇 Much more worried regarding the side effects waking up from General especially urination that's been a major problem of mine for the 3 operations I have had in my life.🤔🙄😳

My Dr. said with laparoscopic repair that LMA cannot be used because I must be paralyzed during the operation. A breathing tube must be used instead due to being paralyzed. So with the open approach LMA can be used since being paralyzed isn't required, is that right? Also, wouldn't chance of being unable to urinate afterward would be less if not paralyzed for surgery?

correct, that anesthetic paralysis is not necessary for most inguinal hernias. postoperative urinary retention has many factors. in some patients, paralysis may affect it, but we have medications that can counteract that.

Would an elderly person age 70 have a higher risk of developing cognitive issues with general anesthesia vs local anesthesia?
