Hello Tipper, I wrote you and Matt a poem for your 29th Anniversary: In the heart of the Appalachian land so wild, A love story has blossomed, like nature's own child. Twenty-nine years of adventure and grace, A journey together, in this breathtaking place. Through the mountains, you've wandered hand in hand, Exploring the beauty of this rugged, wild land. With each passing year, your love has grown strong, Like the ancient hills, where you both belong. In the wilderness, you found your true home, With a love that's as deep as the forests you roam. Your commitment and passion have stood the test, For twenty-nine years, you've been truly blessed. As the seasons change and the leaves turn gold, Your love story continues, both timeless and bold. In the Appalachian mountains, where dreams take flight, Here's to your 29th year, shining so bright. May your love keep growing, like the rivers that flow, In the Appalachian wilderness, where dreams always grow. Happy 29th Anniversary to a love so true, A love as enduring as the mountains, for both of you.

When I was 53 and had been divorced for 11 years, I met a hospital chaplain and minister, for our first date, he took me for a lovely walk in the woods and streams I had never seen, in my own hometown! We go back every year on our anniversary in mid-September. We've been together 9 years now. We're both 62 now. I love how he continues to appreciate my small hometown and home ways. He was a missionary in Italy, Uruguay and worked in hospitalsvin Chicago and Dallas before moving to NC to be near his parents...although he's not from NC, he went to Duke and knows the territory. Sounds like you are grateful, as I am ...gratitude is the antidote to life in these days.

I'm 57 and grew up in a wonderful, loving, country family in Georgia. I remember when everyone I knew were decent people, with the occasional ne'er-do-well (that we all stayed away from). I literally YEARN for decent people nowadays, and I treasure the ones I find. I think that's why your channel is popular.

I totally agree with you my friend. I'm 55yo and I grew up in WV and EVERYONE in and around town were close knit. Now, when I go back home it's like a different planet. I long for the 70's and 80's that to me was a great time to come up in. But I've always said I was born in the wrong century, I can relate more to the Andy Griffith era than any other point in time. Yes, my 2nd cousins often call me cause those teens and twenties believe I am an elder at 62...my brain still operates like I'm 21.❤When somebody says 20 years ago, I automatically think 1980 for some reason and have to go lay down when somebody tells me the truth. I Often visit old homeplaces of my parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Sadly, several have been razed for new highways, makes me cry. Then I visit the grave stones to clean them and put new flowers on them.

I really empathize with your emotions when you realized you are soon to be the “old guard “ of the family. I remember when, after about 4-5 years of losing one elder after another, it dawned on me that there was only one person left living in both our families that stood between us and that title. It’s rather sobering. I just don’t know where the years have flown. December 7, Pearl Harbor Day will be our 47th. Happy belated birthday and congratulations on your anniversary. TeresaSue.

We all loved my mother's corn, somewhere between whole kernel and cream style. We enjoyed them out of her freezer for a couple of years after she passed. My sister began to expirement and finally came up with a recipe that tastes like mothers did. What I love is that my grandchildren call it Granny's Corn even though it's actually their Great-grand's corn. So we're still passing down a taste we love even though we didn't have her recipe.

Love ya'lls long talks. Keeps me entertained when I'm cleaning. As someone who has only been married 15 years, I am in at awe of 29 years celebrated. That's a lot of dedication, hardwork, and love. We could all learn from ya'll. When you said ya'll would be the elders soon, it just made me so emotional. It's so true. It's even a little scary. This newer generation is not grounded. So your generation is truly what's left of strong values. My mother is your age and we always talk about what it'll bring when her generation is long gone. Happy anniversary. Thats beautiful!

Happy Anniversary. So blessed to have “met” you all through your channels. I always walk away feeling blessed and enriched after watching your episodes. So peaceful. It has occurred to me several times the contrast between your channels and other channels. There are some channels that have more moderators than they do viewers. Always drama and conflict. Yes, it is common on social media, and KZbin type platforms, but this tells me that some of that nonsense is artificially manufactured for clicks and views. All that said, visiting here is quite refreshing. You also bring an extra layer of blessing that you have been together 29 years and genuinely appear to be in love after all these years. That is amazing. Kim ❤🙏❤️

I often wished my grandparents hadn't left the mountains. Last month I went back for a family reunion and introduced my husband from Puerto Rico to the family and the mountain. I muself hadn't been there in about 20 years. When he saw the holler that belong to my dad's cousins he said that was a true paradise. It had been the first time to take our teenage children as well. I hope this is just an open door for them to discover their heritage. Happy 29th Anniversary! I hear you are going to be grandparents. Congratulations!

Happy Anniversary!!! Matt and Tipper if God gives y'all a grandson it will be a new adventure. I had two sons and then a granddaughter. The two boys were rough and tough. Boys get mad that they leave out of your presence. Oh my, a granddaughter gets mad she stayed in your presence to make sure you knew she was upset. I live on my grandparents ' home place. Across the road was an old home place with pear trees. The pear trees are still there. Young people these days sell their family's land. Sad situation.

Happy Anniversary! I really enjoyed celebrating with the two of you, while sitting here in my wheelchair. I tell you that I can almost smell the smells of the rotting vegetation and the mud in the creek, things that un-Appalachians can never understand, and I feel sorry for them because even if they go hiking in Appalachia, they don't have it in their blood like we do. Even if you leave the mountains, you will keep that yearning in your heart till the day you die. I have granny in my prayers, as well as your whole family. May God bless you all.

Probably the one thing I've always wished was a bigger part of my life was the generational connections. My Mom and Dad both grew up in Michigan. All my Mom's people stayed in that State, but WW2 scattered my Dad's 5 brothers and one sister to the four winds. Dad went back after WW2 was over and had started a good civilian life as a self supporting plumber. He took a year building a family home for himself, my Mom and older brother and sister and only got to live in it for one month in the summer of 1950 and Uncle Sam recalled him to serve in the Korean war, He lost his business and home and instead of trying to start over after Korea, he elected to stay in the Army for a career. I spent the first 16 years of my life moving around and only occasionally seeing any relatives...usually when Dad was on leave between postings. Don't get me wrong, being an Army brat was interesting. We spent six years in Europe and I got to visit a lot of countries and see a lot of history. Dad retired to Georgia...a State we'd never been in...because that is where he got a job offer. I ended up fitting in okay as Atlanta was growing by leaps and bounds with a lot of people from out of state like myself. But there was no going to work for some family business or getting a job from family or old time friend connections. I am an American and proud of it but often feel quite a nit different than many Americans. You Pressley's should always treasure what and who you have. I am glad to see that you all don't seem to take it for granted!

Since watching this channel, I definitely can relate to your feelings. Many of the traditions Tipper shares are so like those shared by my mom, aunt and grandmother who were originally from western Tennessee. My mom’s family obviously migrated to western Tennessee via VA, NC and Kentucky because there are towns and even a mountain named after them. I grew up in Iowa because my mom’s parents came north for work and she met and married my dad whose family immigrated to Iowa. I understand how food I eat and traditions we have are handed down from both sides. I just sometimes wish we had the family community like some people have when the roots run deep. To visit the area my mom is from, everyone knows her family anywhere you go. They were good people. It sometimes makes me long for that connection. My siblings and my parents do have strong connections with one another and our families have expanded greatly here. Everyone lives within 45 minutes of one another with the exception of a nephew in Texas. I guess we will grow roots where we are planted now and hopefully those roots go deep.

When i was much younger , a day in the woods was a favorite thing to do. Near a creek. ... Speaking of elders...I am there. I am the oldest cousin on Mom's side and Dads.....I was the first grandchild on both sides... Enjoyed your walk as always. Several years ago when my grandmother was young enough to manage it, she , my grandfather , my aunt , her daughter , my two boys and I walked several miles back in the mountains on Del Rio to my grandmother's Home Place . It was very eye-opening . And gave my boys the opportunity to see exactly where they came from . I've been to many states in this country and I have traveled to 7 different countries in Europe , but these mountains are home ...And no matter where I have been , I am always so thankful to get home.❤❤❤ 🙏🙏🙏 Prayer for Granny ❤❤❤

Tipper, that same realization hit me about how my Family elders have all gone, and how that made me the Elder now, when I was about 50. So that's why I started thinking about doing something that would ensure that my stories and the family history wouldn't pass with me. So I started my channel, just like you did with The Blind Pig and The Acorn. And I'm so glad I did, I have met online many wonderful people such as yourself and your family. @@janice7467 no, but if you watch the most recent Presley girls video there have been some life updates. I felt that those updates might bring new life into areas that maybe need it

On how I would love to go back in time and walk in those woods and sit a spell in the "thinking chair". One of the best 'prescriptions' for solving a multitude of ailments! Hearing you talk about becoming the elders of the family reminded me of when my Grandfather (Pap) told me I would be the elder one day. Seems like yesterday. Never did I ever think that I would be the very last person living in my family. You are all so very Blessed to have such deep family connections and sense of belonging. Thank you for sharing and Happy Anniversary!!!!

I didn't watch the video, but I'm happy for you guys. Happy Anniversary! I attended a 65th wedding anniversary yesterday. The story was, 40 years ago the husband woke up to the wife crying her eyes out uncontrollably. The husband asked," Whats wrong sweetheart?" She said, "if I'd have taken you out when we were first married, I'd been out by now." LOL!? On a serious note, God bless you and yours now and forever. Amen

Congratulations on 29 years. January coming I will be married 45 years. Sadly he passed 14 years into the marriage but I still consider myself married. Never went out. Took me 28 years to find him and he was the best.

Good for you. We have been married for 54 years. It really doesn’t seem that long. Like that saying “time flies.”
