@iiishinryuiii3 жыл бұрын
They didn't leave their parent yet. As the description said : "The chicks went directly into the cover of a nearby tree and the parents are continuing to feed them. They will do so for several weeks yet. The fledglings could still be heard but not seen. The parents continue to visit the bird feeder in the garden as well as catching live food for the chicks."
Hi. It was very interesting to see inside the bird box on what happens. We also have a bird box in our garden. A small one. I do not have a camera in it so I have not looked inside before, but this year the lid (roof) fell off. I think it was due to warm weather for long time drying the wood so it shrank and that the lid was not kept in place by the tight fit anymore. I think that either a cat or a magpie was standing at the tip of the lid to get to the hole and then it flipped and fell down. Luckily I discovered it short time after it happened and went to check the box and find the lid. This year there were eight chicks in the nest and they were all grown up. I secured the lid on again with screws this time so it would not fall off. I watched anxiously as the blue tit came and looked inside the box several times without entering the box, but in the end they resumed their hectic feeding routine. :-) Few days later the birds had fled the nest. From the picture of your box it looks quite big. Would that be an issue with keeping the chicks warm?

One summer day, one of the chicks fell in my yard. He could hardly fly, but his mother never abandoned him. Did the bird take the other birds poo and leave with it, I guess to keep the nest clean
@KiwiLombax153 жыл бұрын
Yep, a lot of birds who nest in holes do this. The very young babies have poos surrounded in a thin casing that makes it easy to carry away. This both keeps the nest clean and, because it's often carried quite far away from the nest, prevents predators guessing where the nest is by looking for droppings.

@@cantfindmykeys Yes I agree with dogs I was a responsible dog owner at one time . As for cat’s they most certainly can be kept indoors Catios can be built and indoors places can be designed to allow the cat/s to get up and about as well cat’s can be leash trained and walked like a dog on a leash . It’s about being responsible for your (not literal ) pet . Even dogs at a dog park should be watched a lady where I live had her dog who has to be muzzled because of bread specific legislation attacked by two other dogs at an off leash park . Again it’s about being responsible for the animal a person owns .

@@Thetis058 I walked my cat on a leash with a harness. He didn't like it at first but eventually he tolerated it. He was a huge cat and people got a kick out of it because he was bigger than a small dog. He never murdered anything as I recall. Not even the lizards running around everywhere and also inside the house. He was a mellow boy and feared nothing. Just wanted affection and naps and food. He purred so loud you could hear him in another room. Except for him, I've always been a dog person.
