back in October of 2022, me and a bunch of other members of SBA and iTristan got muted for 2 months, because we noticed iTristan was online, so we all private messaged him a synchronized "bep" at the time, was funny for 5 minutes, but it also shows that certain old players like iTristan are looked at closely and moderated by Hause in case they try to backdoor again or something

An admin of any Minecraft server has the right to moderate to whatever levels they see fit, however, they should have the courtesy of being transparent and consistent on what rules have, and how they enforce them. Here the problem is that Hausemaster is literally trying to have his cake and eat it, in that they claim the server has no rules to preserve the 'anarchy' moniker, but in practice have a list of unspoken rules. I think Hausemaster should pick one path, moderation or anarchy, and grow a pair and follow it and accept the consequences of their trade off.

I hope we start having these discussions about server health in the mainstream (i.e. 'watching but not playing') anarchy community soon, since I feel like one of the things that allows the server to shift further and further from its anarchy roots is the fact that most people aren't aware of how bad the server has become. I feel like the unprecedented plugin stack and powermodding is oriented toward not just cost-cutting but pivoting the server towards the much younger demographic which most MC servers generally target. 2b has become increasingly mainstream, and the admins want the server to reflect that. I hope they process before its too late that it's generally not those 'typical MC players' who drive the culture and action that makes the server worth playing.

By "watching but not playing" are you refering to the wasted potential in the form of Fit/Sal viewers who consume 2b2t related content but never actually play on the server due to it being too hostile of an environment/not being willing to pay $20 per month, or are you referring to the copious number of botted accounts and proxies on 2b2t which take up valuable player slots without actually playing the game?

The solution to this is extremely simple. Don't ever mute anyone, simply move them from category A to category B. Category A is like Eliza and category B is like Azile. Players will have the option to mute category A or B at any time. This works for everyone and acknowledges all sides. If you're a category B player and you don't want to hear the Care-Bear chatting of category A, you could mute that.

Hi, i'm not affiliated with 2b2t in any way, so these are just my 2cents based on me having been in a very similar situation as hausemaster a long time ago. At first i was the only one, running the server, developing, moderating, etc. As a one man army, you can't do shit, so i had to rely on the users to regulate themselves and only act if really necessary. Recruiting trustworthy members for the admin team is extremely challenging. There is no way around recruiting them from the core community, so i bet some of the top members of 2b2t are secretly hausmaster. With a small team set up, loose rules are be defined internally how to handle regular cases like spamming. Those rules are interpreted differently by every team member and depended on their current mood and who was involved. Admins are just humans after all and for some it's hard to separate the admin-persona from the player-persona. So our community also demanded transparency and we gave them a rulebook including the list of punishments. But oh boy, this was a mistake. With hard rules now in place and visible to everyone, all the trolls and hackers started to circumvent the bans, argue over technicalities or simply did their thing, knowing it'll only cost them a monthly ban. At first we tried to address every eventuality in the rules - that failed, people will always find loopholes. Then we loosened up the rules to give admins more freedom which resultet in the same problems we had when keeping the rules a secret. So yeah... keeping the rules a secret is bad but having them visible also causes a lot of trouble. At least that is my experience with a small team and a very "creative" userbase. PS: more sympathy for hausmaster, his job is terrible and it's amazing there will always be a hausmaster to keep doing this job! :-)

Yeah it’s very hard to make the community understand. Most think plug-ins aren’t even hidden rules. I think the overall anarchy community needs to get away from the toxic “no rules” environment, these disputes about restrictions are always based around there should be no rules, even though like I said plug-ins are hidden rules. Unfortunately most of the community aren’t mature enough to even think about how the server even runs, a adminstrator sets the boundaries, meaning not anarchy. People with viable rules get a lot of hate, even tho they are the same just different restrictions.

@@oggilein1 you worded it really well. you see, hausemaster has really only 2 options: either conitnue the "true anarchy" facade by enforcing secret rules without telling the community, OR be open about chat having rules while using 1 simple trick to make people think that 2b2t is sitll anarchy: instead of calling them "rules", call them "mechanics" and have them be entirely enforced by plugins and not human moderation. This could be stuff like limiting the number of messages one can send per minute, limiting the number of characters one can send per minute or preventing players from sending identical/near-identical consecutive messages and implementing specific mute durations for specific offences, while of course informing the 2b2t subreddit on these changes.

I've played on 2b only a few times, but what makes the server fun is the sheer chaos and yes the toxic nature of it. Hause wants to make the server more mainstream, more appealing to big KZbinr accounts since thats probably what drives people to buy premium queue slots. This is a hard topic to approach IMO. On one hand 2b2t is traditionally an anarchy server so chat mutes should not be so rampant. However, as it grows, it faces serious risks. Mojang must know about 2b by now (I mean, come on!) but does Microsoft? Mojang hasn't shut 2b down so far, so I doubt they would unless forced. I'm not sure Microsoft would be so lenient. First, there's the issue of kids being on the server. While yes, they shouldn't be there, how are you going to keep them off? This brings me to the real issue. Having a really toxic chat when the wrong person sees the chat (i.e a parent or grandparent looking over their child's shoulder) could result in and people complaining to Microsoft. Imagine a boomer grandparent or stuck up parent putting out of context screenshots on Facebook and all the boomers losing their mind. Or someone putting those screenshots on Twitter and it going viral. Either would be really bad for 2b. There has to be a better way to deal with this... but it is kinda understandable. The problem is with the marketing. People see “anarchy server” and immediately think “no rules”, but really… it’s just it is just a role play term for “survival with hacking allowed”, right? I mean, if the admins really just let anyone purposefully lag and shut down the server, steal people’s information, and spam and harass other players in chat… no one is going to want to play in the server. I think people play in their server to explore the history, join the factions and groups, or just see how long they last in open survival. So if the admins are moderating to help keep the magic of 2b2t playable and safe, then how is that a bad thing?

Moderation is justified *ASSUMING* the probable cause was actually due to spamming or some other unspoken rule, people shouldn't be muted for building lag machines, but a soft ban in my eyes would be justified as they're making the server unplayable. The problem is Housemaster has never regulated a server and it sounds like he hired a bunch of others who also have no idea. So he has no proper implementation, on top of that they're trying to make it seem as Anarchy as possible by not admitting there are rules. An unknown punishment is far worse than just laying out some basic ground rules.

A better solution would just be to enact a whitelist and prevent new players under 14 in the United States from joining to take care of COPPA compliance. I'm not sure about the minimum age for internet child protection laws in other countries though. This would still be better than insulting the nature of anarchy servers by muting players for toxicity.

Anarchy means no rules for the players or administrators. Hause can do what he wants, and he could be using the mutes to stir the playerbase up and have a laugh at it, or be using it to just get the playerbase to tone it down a bit, because if the players fear a mute for spamming they may rethink their spam efforts if they want to be able to chat.

In my discord server i have a channel that is connected to many bot accounts on 2b2t that sit at spawn. Their purpose is to let my members talk through them via the discord, so they can interact with chat despite being muted. Yes they waste q slots, but it is hauses fault as my members should not get muted in the first place on an anarchy server !
