Although, I would say that the killing of new players was also influenced by the facepunch republic's defeat back in the early days, after an influx of players from 4chan brought their toxicity to the server, killing off the only sort of organized government.

What’s funny is a couple of years ago I joined 2b2t without any real knowledge of Minecraft or the server itself. I remember just seeing little to no people and all of the land being grieved 😂. Honestly I don’t even think i knew the name of the server back then. I was really clueless about the whole server in general.
