@@daretheclaw That doesint sound normal to me and more a quirk behavioral thing yours does. Im not saying its necessarily bad though it is somewhat concerning that its random and not initiated. Animals are individuals however I still stand by what I said regarding cats as a whole, not saying that every one is the same.

@@kagehikari4281 Certainly. Not every animal is going to follow the same behavior as what's displayed in textbooks. Each one has their own unique personality, and ways of expressing themselves to you. My animals have never been harmed, or declawed. In fact, many of them are rescues whom my family takes care of as a whole. Their little "love bites" are never out of aggression. They're more playful, or a means of gaining your attention if anything. We just accept them and laugh it off, because... That's who they are.

Watormellon is so good, what a neat enrichment! Gad to see Jade get in there and get some. I bet shes just more sensitive to the reflection on the phone. I wonder if you just put your phone out there for a little bit every now and then if that would help her desensitize to it. Seeing Beatrix with tail feathers just warms my heart knowing how much better shes doing that shes managed to keep them this long. So happy for her progress

You can literally see them smile. If you look close when he's petting the blue one, the corners of it's mouth turn up @12:30 It's eyes also crinkle in genuine delight, something that fake smiles lack. So cute.

I should also gently mention that intelligent animals know your intentions, every time my husband even touches his earphones, the dog goes nuts because it's walk time. So it's possible that they know what your intentions are even before you touch your phone to record.

About the phone, I would suggest covering it up with a case or cloth in a shape or colour that is different from your phone. maybe something that blends in with the surrounding area

If Jade was wild caugth, she could be scared of the phone because it reminds her of whatever was used to capture her. That and once she was caught she probably had phones madly taking pictures of her right after while she's in panic mode. Very traumatising stuff I'm sure. What if you tried disguising the phone as something non threatening? She might still react to the lense glare if she see it but she might be more open to being filmed. The lense might also remind her of eyes looking at her too though so even with a disguise it might not help, but I'd try it anyways just to see if it changes anything to her behavior.

Ive only had parrots, but it doesnt take much for them be afraid of something. My guess would 1. Not being socialized to much of anything. 2. Likely no personal space, so ppl were likely on phones when they got up into her business. She can actually get away now.

I am curious how you handle Bea and Jade to bring them outside and in for bed time. This was a joy to watch, to see the banana sisters being so brave, listening to Lalo (and Jade!) click and witness Bea's tail feathers is such a wonderful thing. I wonder if your phone catches the light when you raise it? It's heartbreaking to think that Jade could have trauma with humans holding something above chest height.

it is the frequency emitted by the cell phone that scares most animals their senses are more developed than ours for survival reasons ,It is like invading their personal space as it were . Birds are not the only animals affected by this.

i understand the troubles with camera-shy animals - no birds, but my cats always seem to _know_ when they're being filmed, and they aren't always big on it. god knows how. my theory is the camera makes a noise that they can hear but i can't; or maybe they interpret the camera lens as an eye?

considering the fact that you presumably change your clothes everyday, it might be possible to strap a go pro onto some part of your body and have jade not realy react to it. if you strapped it to your wrist it would just look like you were trying to coax someone onto your arm for cuddle time while you try to film her. or of you often wear hats you could try your forehead.

I'll answer your question about Jade and the camera. I'm one of those people who can feel stares. For some unexplainable reason the stare of a camera is as unnerving as a stare from a poltergeist. Even as a grown woman who has encountered many cameras I'm camera shy for this reason. If Jade, a wild animal, can feel stares to, she will likely be camera shy for the rest of her life...
