I really didn't notice that whistle until someone commented about it a few months ago. I heard it once I turned the volume up 100%. If I had been by that person blowing it...I would have knocked the thing out of their hand as far as it could go up in the air to land somewhere FAR away. LOL I can listen to this music over and over. They are great. More than great. I love that they bring the cellos to such a huge crowd. It's beautiful. Instruments are to be seen and heard...not some silly noise created by computer tech. This is .... real. *love*

I grew up listening to my Dad playing different instruments. He played the cello for Southwest Washington Symphony for approximately 20 years before passing. I remember when the original version by U2 came out on the radio when I was in High School and the song got so much air play in my city that you could literally change stations and catch the beginning or ending of the same song (With or without you) that you had just head on the previous station. That overplay I though had ruined the song for me forever. I can't tell you how happy I was to hear this version by 2Cellos. It renewed the song for me in so many way on so many levels. This version you can not only hear the emotion being played but you can feel it in your heart and soul. With each new track I listen to of theirs I am more and more in awe of these two musical masters! BRAVO!!!!!

These two have inspired a whole movement of individuals playing pop music on the cello. I have heard other renditions but the 2 Cellos have ruined it for me, they set the standard. ***** It is harder than you think to transcribe music to a particular instrument that it was not originally composed for. They take whole songs and do all of the transcribing themselves. They are also very accomplished classical musicians. They also come from humble backgrounds and worked their way up in the music world. They don't have many original pieces, but they do and they are great. You don't have to like their music...that's fine. But it looks pretty petty when you reduce them to just how good they look...like they should be ugly. So they are talented, good looking and came up with a marketable idea...what is so wrong about that?

And frankly, I simply do not care much for your perception of skill. I find their music to be utterly tasteless and cheap. Technique is by no means a guarantee for quality. Practice, certainly, but that goes for anything in life, really. Not just for instruments whose players enjoy a heightened, and sometimes exaggerated, amount of attention by default.

I was trying to express my distaste for this particular kind of music (which, I realize, was not a particularly clever thing to do on youtube in the first place) and you're, obviously, free to disagree. I don't have an elevated sense of refinement or anything like that, I don't even have one favorite genre. I'm into lots of different musical styles and genres.
